Enemies Foreign And Domestic is a domestic terrorism thriller set in the near future. The novel begins on opening day of the NFL season, when bullets begin to rain down upon the upper deck of a packed football stadium. A panic stampede ensues, leading to mass casualties. The alleged sniper is found holding a smoking assault rifle, and is killed by a police marksman.

One week later, congress bans the private possession of all semi-automatic assault rifles. Gun owners are given one week to turn in their semi-automatic rifles, or face a five year mandatory sentence.

The plot revolves around the true identity of the actual sniper. The alleged sniper killed at the scene may be a patsy, and many Americans refuse to turn in their banned weapons, leading to a civil crisis in the nation.

Thought provoking, page turning fiction.

My advice: buy this book and the sequel because before you finish the first one you'll be aching to start the second. If you are unfamiliar with this genre of fiction but you like political thrillers, conspiracy, guns, and the gun culture then you are in for a real treat and this book is the right place to start. This book and its sequel (the second in a promised trilogy) are real page-turners. There are a number of similar authors in this genre like John Ross, Rawles, Boston T. Party and David Crawford among others. Each of these authors have written books in which ordinary folks rise to extraordinary challenges in response to a national crisis of some sort, e.g. economic disaster, terrorist attacks or civil war. These books feature believable "every man/woman" characters who perform heroically in a selfless and patriotic manner, typically unseen in American today. Any of these books are good but in my opinion Enemies Foreign and Domestic is the place to start if you are new to this type of fiction. It avoids the do-it-yourself instructional approach of some of the others in this genre and instead focuses on a believable, fast-paced and frightening story line while developing characters who could be your own neighbors. Believe me you won't put this book down once you've started reading. Bracken takes a classic approach where multiple story lines converge to an exciting climax with a surprising and dramatic finish. The attention to detail on things like the battle and rescue scenes, government black ops, and small arms tactics are accurate and precise, much better than you get with the mainstream writers of political intrigue.

Excellent book!

This is an wonderful book, it is a serious read, but it is quite worth it. The real cost of freedom, what does it mean to you, Matthew Bracken knows and he does an excellent job in unfolding it in story form, a pleasure to read. I was not one bit disappointed with a single word written within these pages, it is a shame that this book is virtually non existant in Canada! Thank goodness for Amazon on that one! Looking forward to reading his next book Recognista!

A real page turner from cover to cover!

Great book! Full of useful information from cover to cover;full of mystery, suspense, and reality. Not a 'happy' book,in fact, in spots it is brutal but the storyline is certainly believable. I can't wait to read the sequal "Domestic Enemies:The Reconquista". One caution though; the book "broke" in the middle. But, Amazon did replace the book without a hassle.

GOOD, NOT GREAT.

THIS BOOK SHOULD PROBABLY BE RATED AT 3.5 STARS, RATHER THAN THE 4 STARS SHOWING.

IT'S A GOOD BOOK BUT NOT GREAT ONE. ALSO, IT'S NOT A PAGE BURNER AND AT TIME, IT DRONES ON.

"PATRIOTS" WAS A MUCH BETTER READ.

STILL, RECOMMENDED.

Agood premise , but no strong payoff

I really looked forward to this book. I enjoyed the plot premise, but felt the book was overly long and meandering at times.
