First, she imagined it. Then a killer made it real.
Rowan Smith is living in a borrowed Malibu beach house while her bestselling
novel
is made into a Hollywood movie. A former FBI agent with a haunted past, Rowan thinks she has outrun her demons. But fiction and reality collide when a dismembered body is found in Colorado: the real-life victim had the same name, occupation, and looks as a character in Rowan?s novel. By the time the FBI, the LAPD, and her own private bodyguard gather around her, another person is killed?again, the murder ripped from the pages of Rowan?s book.
In the company of a former Delta Force officer with secrets of his own, Rowan faces an excruciating dilemma: the only way to chase down the tormenting killer is by revisiting the darkness of her past?and by praying for some way out again.
After the
prey
is chosen, the hunt is on and the kill is certain.

Definintely Intense
I've been reading several of the Allison Brennan's books.
Although, they are very good; they are also very intense.
Don't get me wrong. I like intense; but the subject matter is a bit too "frightening" for my taste.

The
Prey
was the first book by Allison Brennan I have read. I was looking for another author, having already exhausted all the Nora Roberts, Kay Hooper, Lisa Jackson, Andrea Kane....... and all my other "favorite" authors. I did a lot of research on new authors after several disastrous reads. I logged on to Amazon and read reviews from other readers like you and decided to take a chance. I have to say I am so happy I have found AB. Her plot structure and storyline is grabbing and addicting. Rowan makes a very believable character and AB makes you feel her pain throughout the book. My chest hurt and my stomach churned during the 2 - 3 chapters when Rowan was struggling with her guilt over the murder of M*%*@^?. AB left me feeling horrified after Rowan finally explains her past to John.
For those readers who are searching for another author to sink your teeth into - I wholeheartedly recommend Allison Brennan.
I can't wait to read the rest of her books!!!

Romance and Suspense
The
Prey
is the first of a trilogy and features former FBI agent Rowan Smith, now turned author of murder mysteries. Someone is now reinacting the death scenes from her books for real. This book has plenty of mystery, suspense and romance. There were times of repitition and predictability, but all in all a good read.
I have read Allison Brennan's next trilogy, and this one is not as graphic in its descriptions as that one. I will read the next two in this trilogy, The Hunt and The Kill.
Good book!
I have discovered after reading her books that I LOVE Allison Brennan. If you want a good suspense and mystery
novel
then hers are the way to go, she hasn't let me down yet and with this book there was no exception. It has a little bit of romance mixed in it(i'm not a romance novel fan), but it is not alot and is tastefully done. Thanks Allison for not dissappointing!

A Little Log Winded
I enjoyed the book but the main character was a bit annoying and it could have been 100 pages shorter.
