The author of the Twilight series of # 1 bestsellers delivers her brilliant first
novel
for adults: a gripping story of love and betrayal in a future with the fate of humanity at stake.
Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that take over the minds of their human
host
s while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed.
Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves-Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.
Featuring what may be the first love triangle involving only two bodies, THE HOST is a riveting and unforgettable novel that will bring a vast new readership to one of the most compelling writers of our time.

THE BEST BOOK I'VE READ IN YEARS!
I'd been searching for a book that would be a truly page turner, and I wasn't disappointed with "The
Host
". I was a little nervous about buying it at first because I thought it would be just another aliens-taking-over-the world book. But it was totally different from anything I've ever read or seen. I'm also not so keen about reading science fiction books, even though one of my favorite TV series is Stargate SG-1 (Still, it is the only sci-fi show I watch!), so I wasn't sure if this was my genre.
But wow...."The Host" was amazing. Yes, it does start a bit slow, but I understand why. Meyer gives a wonderful introduction to what will turn into a real thriller throughout. She literally took me through a journey and made me love each character to its full potential. I cannot say which character I liked the most (even though I have my favorites), and she took a story that could have been quite typical, and turned it into something unique.
For me to say it's one of the best books I've read, it's because this book is worthwhile reading. I am a 14 month old mom, and I have no time to read! But with this book, I made time and stayed up until late night to read it! I could not put this book down. It just opened up so many questions and situations that I truly enjoyed every second I spent with it. I was actually sad I finished it, because I wanted more.
If you're looking for something different, and something that will truly entertain you, "The Host" is what you'll need. I honestly recommend it.

Fantastic for all readers!
A huge Stephenie Meyer fan, I found "The
Host
" different from her Twilight Series, but no less captivating or thought-provoking. The story is deep and rich, and truly "science fiction for none-science fiction readers". I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading; you won't be able to put it down until you finish it!
Page Turner
Well written, easily read for a broad age spectrum. When you think the problem is solved, and how can this book still have so many pages, then something else plausable, in the context of the story, comes up. Ended a bit abruptly. Maybe she is setting us up for a sequel - I hope!
