Readers captivated by Twilight and New Moon will eagerly devour Eclipse, the much anticipated third book in Stephenie Meyer's riveting vampire love saga. As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob--knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?

Amazing Book!

This is a amazing book that you just can't put down. It continues the saga perfectly. I would recomend this book (and the rest of the series!) to any one who likes vampires and werewolves, or even just a great love story. It really is amazing and I cant wait for the next one.

Can't wait for the next episode

I bought this book for my wife and she loved it.
It's the third chapter of a series of a five-books novel.
A good recommendation for romantic persons and teenagers in love.

My wife is anxiously waiting for book 4.
I was also happy to find out that Amazon had this book available in Spanish even sooner than in most libraries in Mexico.

Ruined the first two books

I have read the whole series between classes this week and found that, although the back makes them look silly and superstitious at best, the first two books had me hooked. The third, however, managed to ruin the first two books and the rest of my week, for that matter.
Twilight and New Moon were anything but repetitive and I was fascinated by Bella because her process of thinking was, in many ways, similar to mine. the first three quarters of new moon were bearable, although uncannily repetitive and depressing. Here's a list of pros and cons:

Cons:
1. Even when Bella was with Edward she was never for one moment able to forget her worries and laugh or be happy, which in many ways makes this series much like every other where in the end it was a brooding mess of similar emotions and over-excitement.

2. Bella, and everyone else for that matter, were extremely slow in their reactions and moments of enlightenment. By the time they realized the Seattle killings and the ransacking of Bella's room were connected, I was WAY past that. In fact, I thought it was rather common sense!

3. By considering her reaction and feeling towards Jacob, I considered him to be her brother, much like in my family. When she though she loved him, I was rather astonished, for their relationship in NO WAY illustrated that. Not even when Edward left her in New Moon. She was no longer completely happy with Edward which figuratively "broke his heart". This is what managed to UTTERLY RUIN THE SERIES FOR ME! Especially when Edward desired her in the highest manner and she refused! NO GOOD!!!

4. They spent most of the time worrying, planning, and overall being petty. Only in the very end did anything really happen.

5. There was too much thinking about who was best for her, wwhat was best for her, and who had her best interests in mind.

6. Jacob almost annoyed me, ughh. he was so cold and rude, but Bella still thought she loved him even though he was a complete imbecile, and I would say something else if this wasn't a child's book. He practically assulted her and she loves him? No wonder Edward despises him, he's a horrid choice for her. Not to mention, he admits he MANIPULATES her over and over again!

7. Yes, Jacob knows what she likes and doesn't like (i.e. colors, people, moves, etc.), but Edward knows her mind and feelings, which is more important. The author may have tryed to endear Jacob to most girls fantasies, but in my mind he was just the opposite. Bella should have told him straight out that she loved him as family.

8. Bella could use to be a little more human and hurt Jacob the way he hurt her. The way it's written, it's almost as if she's already a vampire and can't think like a human girl with reactions and anger.

The Pros:

1. She finally stands up to Edward, although I would agree he is smarter and has her in mind more. She is no longer quite as weak a main character (although she was never overall weak)

2. She and Edward finally both sacrifice equally! Edward always sacrificed his feelings and desires in order to be with her and make her future happy, though it may be painful at the time. Now she sacrifices her family, future, and adopted family,(in my mind) a.k.a Jacob.

3. You realize Edward is happy as long as he's with her so his sacrifice is worth. Edward grows in character and understanding of Bella and becomes less annoyingly chivalrous in the end, but still and good man.

4. You find yourself so immersed that you yearn for nothing more than Bella to marry Edward and change so you can understand what it's going to be like.

5. She finally considers the consequences of changing, rather than jumping for it. As in family, college, friends, other loves (though I have a hard time saying it), etc...

6. I find the characters and their actions, although annoying, very human and understandable. we aren't always mature, smart, logical, etc.!

7. The author finally gives Bella her own way of defending herself, besides her vampire friends. I.e. the third wife.

8. The characters are meant to display the acts of human nature, rather than trying to set and example for children today (thank you!)

9. The institution of Shakespearian love (star-crossed lovers) adds so much to it.

Overall it was a good book, I just hope the fourth rights this books wrongs. I wish I could understand this from an authors point of view.

Not your typical senior year

Isabella "Bella" Swan, first introduced to readers in Twilight, is the girlfriend of vampire Edward. The two are caught up in a whirlwind romance and various supernatural threats; in Eclipse, the vampire stalker Victoria is after Bella and has created an army of young vampires who are terrorizing Seattle. Bella floats through her senior year waiting for graduation, when Edward will turn her into a vampire so that they can be together forever.

The first novel Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1) and parts of New Moon (The Twilight Saga, Book 2) were based around Romeo and Juliet; Bella's inspiration in Eclipse is Wuthering Heights, which goes to show the unhealthy relationships she fosters with both Edward and young werewolf Jake.

In the first novel, Bella used Jake to gain access to information about Edward and his vampire "family." Jake had a puppy-dog reaction to Bella's attention in Twilight, but when he transformed into a werewolf, he becomes a sneering, possessive, violent contender for Bella's heart, brutally kissing her and making lewd suggestions. Edward demands that he and Bella be married before he brings her across, and Bella pouts and fights it like a five-year-old. Instead of being excited about the prospect of a wedding, she votes for a drive-through wedding in Vegas, although Edward's sister Alice ends up being her wedding planner.

The tribal legends were interesting, but not enough to save the lackluster plot. Bella and Edward aren't even directly involved in the final battle (talk about anticlimactic), and the plot was fairly evident from the beginning. The Cullens, portrayed as "good" vampires in earlier books, are witness to an act of brutality, yet make no audible comment about the poor girl involved.

I quickly grew tired of Edward and Bella's predictable reactions about what horrible people they are, etc., Bella's extended tantrums and crying fits, and Jake's desire to bed Bella (or at least convince her that he's her perfect mate). I can only hope that things look up for Bella in the final book in the series, Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, Book 4).
