A Wonderful Read!

The book "The Magnificent Obsession - Embracing The God-Filled Life" by Anne Graham Lotz was a delight to read! Anne takes us on a journey back to Abraham and how Abraham walked with God. She lets us see how Abraham had a close walk with God yet he was just like us, struggling on issues and yet he triumphed over his struggles by staying close to God. God wasn't just some distant Being to Abraham, God was his best Friend. So much to take in from this wonderful book. If you are a Christian, this book will help you to keep chugging along with God and if you are dabbling in Christianity, this book will show you that God can be as real to you as He was to Abraham.

I liked that Anne gave us the real side to her. She told how she had struggles to overcome too. So many Christians who live the limelight are reluctant to come out and show they are human, but Anne gave us the real her and she tells how she kept her walk with God, even when it wasn't peaches-n-cream.

On page 142 Knowing the Mind of God:
This is a synopsis of this book in this sub-chapter and it is God wants us to be His friend. Yes, God thinks about you and me and wants a relationship with us. You can have a close walk with Him and know what He is thinking and planning and all you have to do is just walk with Him. To me that sums up this book.

There is a lot of additional add-ons in this book from breaking the cycle of sin to running ahead of God's Way. Anne does a great job in helping us to focus on God and what are important steps to walking with God. A great book!

Magnificent Obsession by Anne Graham Lotz

Anne Graham Lotz is one of my favorite authors. She is a rare and beautiful find in today's Christian culture. Most Christian authors would tell you that they are writing books that point to Jesus, but most of them are a type of self-help Christianity. If all we learn is that the Bible is about us and how we live, we have nothing to offer others. Anne gives us a beautiful glimpse at Jesus in the life of Abraham. I could tell you a million comments on each section of this book, but I just want you to know that I loved it. I want you to read it. I have seen the glory of a father willing to sacrifice his own son. I have drunk deep as I watched the father send his servant to carefully select a bride for his son. I love seeing the rich beautiful tale of Jesus Christ and the lengths he goes to in order to protect the bride and get her to the son wrapped so intricately in the pages of Genesis. Beloved bride, fall into this poetic tale and live it out.

Wonderful book

Anne Graham Lotz presents readers with a study of Abraham's life. The text is based on Genesis 12-24. It was easy to personalize this account. Abraham was told by God to leave his home. Lot seemed to prosper at times, but never followed the Lord. In the end, it was costly to his family and others. Time and again Abraham would jump ahead and do things his way, not waiting on God. He made many mistakes, but always turned back to the Lord. Lotz shares stories of her life and struggles.

Lotz was honest concerning her walk with the Lord. She shares her mistakes, as well as her successes. If you've tried doing it on our own, if you are impatient or if you've told a little lie, you are very human and this book is for you.

This book will make a great individual or small group study.
