In The
Referral
of a
Lifetime
, author Tim Templeton frames a powerful plan for cultivating clients and customers in a fable about businesswoman Susie McCumber, who feels increasingly like a failure. A friend refers her to the mysterious Mr. Highground, who introduces her to four successful people. They show her how they transformed their businesses and their lives by determining how others view them and how they view themselves as both human beings and businesspeople. Each of the four represents a "type" in this schema - from the "relational/business" type who puts the relationship first but thinks strategically when the talk turns to business, to the "business/business" type, who avoids relationships unless they work to a business advantage. Templeton shows how understanding one's type allows one to showcase strengths while improving weak areas in this simple, easy-to-use guide to success in business and in life.

"Simple but Profound"
I really enjoyed reading the book "The
Referral
of A
Lifetime
" By Tim Templeton. It was simple, almost common sense but truly profound. To quote the forward this book offers "simple truths and profound wisdom".
What I really liked about this book was it does not try to tell people how they should be, it tells you
that
you should be yourself and work with what your particular style is. Transformation can take place when you know
where you are. You can't worry about what you did in the past only what you are going to do right now and
every
one has their style. Templeton stresses that relationships are our most valuable referral source
and if we treat them right they will refer clients to us. You must also let your relationships know what you are looking for and how important they are to you.
Another book I really enjoyed is Being Here: Modern
Day
Tales of Enlightenment" by Ariel & Shya Kane. On page 103, they say "Satisfaction comes from Being Here in this present moment. The simple act of engaging in our lives can transform an ordinary existence into a deeply satisfying one..."
Both of these books were delightful and warmed my heart on a cold winter afternoon.

Simple and Powerfull
Tim Templeton offers a fun, crisp read
that
brings to life a simple but powerfull network marketing
system
that virtually anyone in business can adapt to their own style.
I have given away several copies to my leads group memebers and have my copy all marked up with highlights.
I's a keeper.
Cheesy Read, but fabulous, do-able system!
Reading this I felt like I was in 2nd grade, but I didn't mind because I could read it all in one night, and it had a great, do-able
system
that
I could implement immediately. I started the system the next
day
and had 6 new refferals in one month. Not only did it talk about a good system, it gave exact examples and wording that made it so much easier for those of us who have trouble putting the final product together.

The Referral of a Lifetime
This should be required reading for anyone in Sales. The key points, if followed will improve your sales
results
and make your life eaier.
I Love Referrals!
As a business coach, one of the main concerns of my self employed professional clients have is how to get enough customers to fill their practice. I belong to a
referral
based business club and recently, I have had an opportunity to see the toll ta
ken
by business people who have a "hunt and kill" mentality. The premise of "The Referral of a
Lifetime
" is
that
by nurturing a loyal client base in similar and related businesses, more like farming, you are able to build a self sustaining business that will reap rewards years ahead.
Now this is NOT the multi-level marketing model where I get you to produce to my benefit with the only promise is that you get OTHER people to promise benefit to you. (Don't get me started down that road!)
The key here is reciprocity. I give business to you and you will want to give business to me. Templeton talks about building networks of friends and business relationships that will last a lifetime based on excellent customer relations, integrity and generosity. Too often I have seen people in business so desperate to make a living that the wreck havoc where ever they go. I wonder to myself, do they really know that this won't work forever and that their "scorched earth" business plan will ultimately backfire?
I make this book required reading for my serious coaching clients and it is in my top 3 books that I recommend to any business person for long term success.
