Kim has appeared on ?Dr. Phil,? the ?Today? show, ?NBC Nightly News,? CNN and ?Good Morning America.?

I finally get my sleep at night!!!!!!!!!

At 5 months my son would only fall asleep in our bed, with pacifier in his mouth and me holding his hand. Then he was up every hour and half to nurse. I was so sleep deprived I could barely do anything around the house, so my friend gave me this book. At 5 month and two weeks my son was sleeping through the night, falling asleep by himself, in his crib and without pacifier!!!!! He never cried for more than 5 minutes when we were teaching him!!!!!!!!!! I am soooooo happy this book exists!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Book - Very Useful

This book helped me so much when my young son started having sleep troubles. It addresses real life problems and gives very practical and doable resolutions for all kinds of sleep issues. I have also given this book as a gift to several of my friends who have had babies recently, so I highly recommend this book.

Best book on sleep for infants!!!!

This is the best book for infant sleep I received. It's a common sense approach to helping your child sleep through the night and establish good sleep habits. Not only does it tell you how to help shape your child's sleep it also tells you why it works. Another nice part of the book is it will tell you by age how much an average child sleeps and how much is at night and in naps. I love this book so much I won't loan it to anyone for fear of not getting it back. Instead, I give it as a baby gift to every new mother I know. I have even given it to 2nd time mothers if they didn't have a copy before. Excellent book!!!

Very informative sleep book

I am so glad that I found this book. This is a great book for any parent to read, whether or not you actually use every piece of advice. I have read The No-Cry Sleep Solution previously, but it didn't really work for our family. I also did not believe in the Cry It Out method, which certainly didn't work for my daughter. This is a great mix of the two. West gives very commonsense advice for sleep problems, in a very easy-to-read manner. My favorite piece of advice was that if your child uses a pacifier and wakes up hunting for it, hand them the binky instead of putting it in for them. That way they learn to do it on their own (something that I should have thought of on my own!) This book is just what sleep-deprived parents need, especially if you are okay with just a little crying for everyone's better sleep habits.

Good but a bit maddening

There's some excellent advice in this book and I recommend it with one caveat: the sections on the early months were incredibly frustrating. They didn't address a common difficulty with infants under 12 weeks -- namely, that many want to be held ALL THE TIME and won't nap unless they're in your arms or otherwise next to your body. The suggestions West has for this age (putting the infant down drowsy but awake) simply won't work for a good number of babies until they've had a bit more time to mature. Parents facing this difficulty should just wait a bit and keep trying. It would have saved me a lot of headaches and worry if I had known...
