The oracles of Ancient Black Civilizations aimed to guide individuals and nations in all areas of life. Through them it was possible to discover the spiritual cause and meaning to earthly events. These great oracles prescribed the words of power and other occult forces that can be manipulated by the initiate in order to control the events of his life.

For those serious about history!

Before I read this book I read "Ancient Futures" by Wayne Chandler. Ancient Futures is a prerequisite for reading "Metu Neter I & II". Time to undo the false and see what's really real!

That is how awesome it is to be able to put knowledge along with wisdom into a great book.

A good source to begin your spiritual journey

I read this book about 5 years ago and I read it again, and maybe once more thereafter. This book attempts to address what it says it will cover but unfortunately it doesn't cover everything. Many consider this book incomplete when dealing with the inner workings of the Nile Valley (ancient Egypt) and "incomplete" is not an unfair term to use. But at the same time, "incomplete" is not the same as "incorrect" or "ineffective". The author (Ra Un Nefer Amen) humbly admits that "Metu Neter" is an attempt to reconstruct the spirituality of the Nile Valley, through a combination of the Canaanitic, the Vedic (Indus Valley) & the Kamitic thought process, if you will (It is my understanding that the paradigm of the Tree of Life is Canaanitic in origin).

Ra Un Nefer Amen is a teacher and thus, his doctrine is unique. It is not identical to any particular ancient Ta-Merrian philosophy. There was a diversity of doctrines and schools of thought within and across Ta-Merri. What the author seems to have attempted to do is add another philosophy based on the limited works of our ancestors. I don't see anything wrong with that so long as it is effective in achieiving its goal. But before calling his work "authentic" Kamitic philosophy, we have to remember that what our ancestors left were only fragments from memory which stemmed from far greater "unwritten" teachings.

Whether or not brother Amen's interpretations are completely accurate or slightly accurate should not be the focus here. I think that the book should be judged on the effectiveness of it's path. We should know that the key to African spirituality is not intellectual interpretation, experience and awareness is. Therefore, "Metu Neter" should be judged by its teachings, meditations, visualizations and the accuracy of the accompanying deck of oracle cards.

Ra Un Nefer Amen's system doesn't need to match the other systems identically. Who said that one couldn't be innovative on his/her spiritual path? The philosophy and cosmology of Ta-Merri (egypt) and African spirituality as a whole is based on experience, awareness of the SELF and awareness of the universe. However, i will say that in this book there are certain practices mentioned but are not emphasized. For example, the venerating of one's ancestors and communicating with the Ntrw (deities). He also acknowledges that it is possible to communicate with both the deities and one's ancestors within higher states of trance, but this is not emphasized as well.

The book also does not interpret or embrace every practice done in Ta-Merri. Cheik Anta-Diop mentions some practices that Ra Un Nefer Amen does not emphasize within his doctrine. Whether or not that was the author's intent, only he knows for certain. It is obvious that the aforementioned aren't the focus of this book.

We must keep in mind that the author is not initiated into the spiritual system of Ta-Merri but he is an Ifa priest. The secret spiritual system of Africa is "underground" and you won't find any books on its true cosmology and philosophy. Unless i'm mistaken, you have to be born into the culture in order to gain access to the higher knowledge of the system. You also won't find it among egyptologists like Budge and Massey. To get some of the pieces of the science of Ta-Merri, you would have to be initiated into the systems of the Dogon, Bantu-Kongo, etc. However, the closest thing to it in this country is Ifa.

I would submit to those reading this review that "Metu Neter" is a very good source for comparative studies and I recommend that you read it, digest it and perhaps read it again. However, if you're looking for the core of the true teachings of ancient Egypt, you will not find it there. But I do recommend reading this book because one must continue to take steps towards the truth. And one must continue that journey even after reading this book and countless others. Get the book and start your spiritual journey.
