The action movie Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has based its plot on the real crystal skulls, the story of which is documented in this book

? Investigates the Maya and Native American legends that tell of thirteen crystal skulls said to hold vital information about coming Earth changes

? By independent filmmakers Chris Morton and Ceri Louise Thomas, whose A&E documentary on the crystal skulls won high acclaim in the United States and abroad

? Over 100,000 copies sold worldwide

Native American legend tells of thirteen life-size crystal skulls said to contain crucial information about humankind?s true purpose and destiny. The legend prophesied that one day, at a time of great crisis for humanity, all thirteen crystal skulls would be rediscovered and brought together to reveal information vital to the very survival of the human race. To date several skulls have been discovered.

This book is the definitive guide to the facts and legends that inspired the May 2008 movie Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It explores what these mysterious crystal skulls are, where they came from, and what they may have to offer. The book follows Chris Morton and Ceri Louise Thomas on their journey of discovery from the ancient temples of the Maya to the British Museum, the Smithsonian, and to the crystal laboratories of Hewlett-Packard, where scientific tests on one of the skulls--made from the same quartz crystal used in today?s computers--lead to the conclusion, ?This skull shouldn?t even exist.? Their journey also leads to Native shamans and elders who reveal the sacred knowledge and vital information that these skulls hold about coming Earth changes and humanity?s imminent destiny.

Good for those that do not know about Crystal Skulls

For me this book was a hard book to put down. It reads like a mystery book, your never sure what is going to happen next or where the writers are going to end up next. I feel it is an amazing ride with the writers into the world of the crystal skull world. They meet many different people with just as many different types of opinions on the subject of crystal skulls. I feel this is a good read for anyone who is wondering about the crystal skulls and some history too.

Good information

This is very well written. It provides information on the crystall skulls from a wide variety of people, legends and places. It's hard to put down.

Skulls

An interesting book but it leaves many doubts and questions. Maybe, it should knowing the subject. I believe that more should have been said or examined about the true and most sophisticated skull of the lot. How was it created and when and by whom. Was it really not possible for humans to have created this skull? It was fun reading.

Keep an open mind and you might be surprised!

What I liked most was just how readable this book was. I've read very few non fiction books that made me turn the pages as often. I came across this book after having a look to see what Amazon had on the Indiana Jones movies. I was keen to find out just how much fact there was to crystal skulls, having never heard of them before. Needless to say this is a very comprehensive book on the subject.

As you get further and further into the book you also have to keep a very open mind as far as some of the theories and subject matter goes. While I'm not completely convinced about some of the more outlandish theories, I found the book very interesting none the less. In any case there's only a few years to one of the pivotal points of the book, the end of the Mayan calendar in 2012, so if there is depth to some of the theories then we'll know soon enough!

Just the other night I saw footage of one of the six astronauts to walk on the moon saying that he believes that not only are Aliens real, and have visited the earth, but that the US government has been deliberately keeping this information from the public. Now while that sounds outrageous, you have to ask why would a well respected public figure, someone that's featured in history books etc, put his reputation on the line for something that he didn't 100% believe in. I'm sure NASA aren't too pleased with him - for sure risking public humiliation isn't something that most people would have the guts to do. So maybe George Lucas's plot for the last Indiana Jones film wasn't so outrageous after all?? If the legend is correct then the 13 crystal skulls will appear in the next couple of years... so who knows. At the end of the day, what's sillier - believing in aliens or believing in religion? How can you prove that any god exists anyway? (Mind you who needs to have a reason to treat everyone and everything with the respect they deserve?)

So in conclusion, if you've got an open mind then I think you might find this a very interesting book.

By the way it's not a book that's suitable for young children. Some of the background information on the Aztecs etc is pretty graphic - they were a bloodthirsty lot.

Fascinating

Saw the movie "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" and had no idea there were actual crystal skulls of mysterious origin. Somehow I ran across this book and figured I should read it.

In a nutshell, it seems we have several crystal skulls around the world that nobody can explain how they were made. Hmmm, sounds a bit like the great pyramid(s) and other ancient structures. Lots of myths surround the skulls, attributes of healing powers, etc.

An interesting read. Kinda wonder where the authors got the $$ to gallop around the globe to investigate the skulls.
