Comprising a book and an audio CD, this musical approach to math was created by teachers and is a great alternative to heavier rock and rap programs. It uses an interactive approach. The multiplication and division kits are especially designed to feature and review skip counting in the chorus of every song. Effective for auditory learners My daughter learns by hearing, so this worked like a charm for her. At first, I was skeptical. The songs always review the tables in numerical order, and I thought she would rely on skip-counting to figure out the next answer. After we listen, I review them with her in random order, and she can recall almost all of them instantly. The songs are all different from eachother (unlike another multiplication CD I bought) and very cute. The skip-counting is a real bonus. If you have an auditory learner and/or a music lover, this is a good choice. Fun Multiplication What a fun and easy way to study multiplication!!! My 9, 6, and 4 year old love to listen to this in the car. Nice tunes and you can understand all of the words. Effective The music part of this packet is excellent. I've read criticisms about the music, but let's be realistic: it's multiplication tables. It needs to be musically simple and catchy. It's not technically "folksy," but is very similar to the style of music on most CDs for small children. The lyrics in the accompanying book are helpful, but not so much the worksheets. There is one page per number, which assumes that a child is going to master the multiplication tables on the first go-round. I've been printing out supplemental pages each day and doing each number daily for a week.
