Wonderful for both hand and machine knitters

I knit by hand and with machines. This book is easily adapted to machine knitting. The author provides a basic platform from which to create. I would say that the projects rank on the level with knitting an afghan, so if a person is not up to that level, best start elsewhere. The knitting itself is quite easy on most all patterns.

Knit Kimono

This book shows all the details and history of the kimono. It also has a section to create your own kimono with the yarn you wish to use. The pictures show fronts and backs, the instructions are specific.

Best new knitting book for advanced knitters in decades!

Once you have knitted blankets, sweaters, Irish cable knit sweaters, fair isle and lace and intarsia, it seems like there are no more fun projuects to do. But this book is FULL of gorgeous knitted kimonos that are extremely well designed and it's the best NEW knitting book I have bought in DECADES !! DECADES !!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Knit Komono. 18 designs with Simple Shapes

I am impressed with this knitting book for two reasons... It is beautifully presented for a knitting book and most of the patterns I am able to adjust easily to my own homespun wool.
It is a book I leave on the coffee table for anyone to browse through.

If you have a lot of money for yarn, go for it

The kimonos are lovely. The patterns are very helpful- and if you are an experienced knitter you will be able to figure out how to substitute yarns. If you plan on using the yarns the author did, however, you should expect that some of these projects are going to get very expensive. I spoke with a lady who does museum archival knitting, and she said to substitute yarns one should match the gauge, not just the yarn weight. I think this book would have been improved by giving information about less expensive yarns.
