Greatest Moment in Bizarro Sports...

This was hilarious. Oscar Legbo is competing in the Tour de Saucisse-Dommages, but he is too focused on trying to save bugs that are in the road to pay attention to the race. Helmut Starb is racing against Oscar, and he thinks he has a chance to win. Oscar realizes he is losing and gets in the zone. He is making a comeback. Then, out of nowhere, a ninja appears and messes things up in a funny way. You'll have to read the book for more.

The chapters alternate between Oscar, Helmut, and the ninja, among others. In between is television commentary from two sportscasters and poems by Oscar about bugs. Carlton Mellick III provides illustrations of various insects that are featured in the poems.

This is very funny, wholly original, and a serious page turner. The end is a riot... Any fans of Mellick or any other of the Bizarro authors are encouraged to check this out. And the title is right... Legbo does provide the greatest moment in sports...

Another Winner in the Bizarro Genre

I was very apprehensive of the idea of a Bizarro book about sports. I do not enjoy Football or Baseball to any degree and the idea of reading a full book about a bicycle race did not appeal to me. But I heard from numerous sources that this book was good so I gave it a chance. I was happy I tried the book.

Donihe writing flows perfectly in this very messed up story. You will be riveted to the book and the race develops and each new insane plot point comes into affect. Surprising and hilarious, this book is great!

One insane bike ride. Great intro to the bizarro.

This was one of my very first tastes of bizarro fiction. Donihe's yarn is like a movie directed by the bastard love child of John Waters and Terry Gilliam. Whimsical perversions abound. In a nutshell, an instant bizzaro classic.

Bicycles, Spurting blood, and a Ninja.

I may be partial to bizarro literature, sure. But I think this is a book that would appeal to people who aren't even hardcore cult literature/bizarro fans.

My reasons? First, the book is FUNNY. I was dying from laughter after the first few pages. Second, it's fast-paced. Those two reasons alone make it easy for the reader to get into it. However, sure there are some rather...graphic things that might turn off the casual mainstream reader (i.e. fans of the DaVinci Code).. but that's not a bad thing, heh.

But if you like weird and funny stuff.. this book is for you. I just finished it and I can tell that it'll be something that I will reread within the coming months. It's that good.
