Basic forms such as circles, squares and triangles are increasingly being used in creative work. One sees crystalline structures, diamonds, rhombi, patterns and grid-like frames. Elements influenced by the psychedelic and OpArt of the 1960s and 70s are being combined with the acid colors of the late 80s.

NeoGeo makes clear that this current abstract work is not a nostalgic phenomenon; rather, it borrows from illustration, collage, typography and computer art to create a whole new visual language.

Laser beams and x rays

This is a really beautiful collection of spectacular work. It's like neon lights and triangles are twirling across the page. A great book to have that you will love forever until lasers aren't cool anymore.


Eye Candy

This book is pure eye candy. The work inside is a cohesive grouping and does not stray from the purpose of the book, which is to portray the power of geometry in modern graphic design (it is primarily focused on print and illustration). It appears that the editors made a strong effort to include a wide variety of styles, yet their visual tastes are pretty clear. Perhaps this is due to the geometric aspects to the work and/or their contemporary aspects, but the collection had a lot of thought behind it and is simply wonderful. If you're a graphic designer, I would definitely include this in my visual library.
