The works on this album are technically perfect; moreover, they convey a sense of feeling which all too often "compilation" albums leave out. Bell manages to keep the context of emotion in which the work originally appeared intact. A must buy for any violin afficianado.

If this review is short, it is only because I lack the width and breadth of vocabularly to relay how much I treasure the work of Joshua Bell.

Romancing the violin

I found the CD Romance of the Violin by Joshua Bell achingly beautiful. His expressiveness is almost overwhelming. I was impressed by the lightness of his touch which allows the violin to sing with the softest notes particularly in the higher registers. I have heard his mastery in West Side Story Suite and Gershwin but I believe it is the tone and touch in this beautiful music that reaches in to touch the soul. Being in Australia, I could not even buy this CD in the shop, but had to import it. Having heard his playing on "Mi Mancherai" on the Josh Groban CD I was determined to find his music and now that I have been introduced to this wizard I want to hear more. Enthralling interpretations of beautiful music that puts the heart at peace.

JOSHUA BELL - THE BEST OF...

When I first heard this CD, I was, in effect, transported to a place of peace and tranquility. I was, in fact, overwhelmed at the artistry of Joshua Bell on the violin and this CD leaves no doubt in my finite mind that he has captured the very spirit of the music. My wife is a violinist and the inspiration this music has given her to press on and play better is matched by no one else. There have been great violinist throughout time, but if you listen closely to the ever so slight nuances in Joshua's playing, you will find his interpretation of this timeless music flawless. Bravo to Bell for his work on Romancing the Violin. It has captured my heart without question. Bell will be remembered for this work for years to come!

Excellent Music

I've never had the chance to see Bell's actual performance yet but I do not regret buying this CD. The tracks in "Romance of the Violin" are excellent. Needless to say, his playing is very expressive. That along with the melody simply takes my breath away. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys listening to classical music and even to those who listen to slow music to relax & unwind.


My mother loves it

I bought this CD for my mother because she heard excerpts on the radio and wanted it, but she is too computer-impaired to order it for herself. Generally, violin solos are not my favorite (My instrument of choice is piano) but this CD is very nice. A little cloying for me, but my mother loves it. I give it 5 stars because it makes her so happy. She tells me that she plays it every day. Which is saying a lot because she also is audio-equipment-impaired!
