Our favorite for a 2-year old
We bought several books for our 2-year old daughter when we found out that we were expecting our second child. Of all the books we bought, this one is our favorite. For her age, this is the most appropriate and easiest for her to understand. It's not too detailed and wordy, and yet explains in simple terms what it will really be like when the new baby comes home. It also reinforces that she is special, and that being a
big
sister
is a special job. We also like "I Heard Said the Bird" by Polly Berrien Berends.
SENSITIVE TALK FOR A SENSITIVE TIME IN A LITTLE GIRL'S LIFE!
My daughter was 2-1/2 when her baby
sister
was born, and I was very concerned about jealousy. This book handles all of the issues in a wonderfully sensitive way, letting the older sibling know that she is unique and no one will ever be just like her. Also, it helped my daughter realize all the great things she could do as a toddler (eat ice cream, for one!) that baby sister won't be able to do for a long time. Well written, a must have for any "
big
-sister-to-be"!

So Cute!
What a cute story to get my daughter used to becoming a
big
sister
. My online complaint would be that it assumes bottle-feeding instead of nursing.
Another great Joanna Cole book
My daughter has the potty book by Joanna Cole and we love it. This book is also great. It is focused on after the baby is born, how it is too little to play but the
sister
can give it comfort by keeping it "warm and cozy". Shows a lot of what the
big
sister can do, like eat pizza and play on the playground.
Good-ish book . . .
I really like the pictures in this book, and I like that the baby is always referred to in a gender-neutral way. The only problem is that I bought this book for my daughter, who is very young, to help her understand what life will be like with the new baby. There's a page that says "it's time to change the baby's diaper, it's time for a bottle, too!" It's not that I don't want my daughter to see a baby with a bottle - but it could easily have been avoided by simply saying the baby was hungry. It seems like an unnecessary complication to people who won't be using bottles. My daughter is going to have to learn that the new baby will be nursing with mommy, and this book didn't help with that at all.
