GREAT MOVIE!!! ..BUT.....

Hello I have watched this movie many times, and I have enjoyed it the story... however, remember pi is bigger than 165 or so numbers that describe the name of GOD, and no the calculation of PI does not BURN COMPUTERS!!! mmmmm, and besides, simply the story is great... fully recommended for everyone who has taken a little bit of of math... I am a phd with optimization and simulation background, and YES I ENJOYED IT!!!

Classic!

I gotta say that I've had 5 false starts with this film. Each time i tried to watch it, i'd get a headache and turn it off. The film seemed to me pretty intense and i just couldn't deal with it.
Then lately i got around to watching it again and I made a commitment to sit through the whole movie to see if it's really good. It is. No actually it's freaking great! It's a classic in my book.
The end of the film makes it all worthwhile...believe me.

PI

WOW.. this movie is out of left field. Need to watch it more then one time to take it all in!

Provocative Thriller About Numbers

Pi is a low-budget film that was shot in black and white. The stark, imaginative photography is great. It's easy to see why director Darren Aronofsky won the "Best Director" award at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival. Film art buffs will appreciate Aronofsky's work on this flick.

Pi is an eccentric tale to say the least. Unlikely hero Max Cohen is an oddball mathematics genius who is studying the possible existence of detectable patterns in the stock market. Using his amazing homemade supercomputer, Max stumbles upon a bug that crashes his system and spits out a worthless number. However, Max becomes obsessed with the number and finding its potential meaning. A Hasidic sect and members of an extremely influential Wall Street firm hear about Max's number and want it for their own immoral purposes.

The story is fascinating and Aronofsky creates an air of urgency and suspense that draws the audience in. The subject matter is not the stuff of blockbusters and you will not find glamorous stars, so this film may not be for everyone. If you're a fan of the unusual or a follower of cult classics, then I highly recommend this film.

The thin line between genius and insanity

An excellent look at how genius borders insanity. Not only does the main character, Max, posses great intelligence, but he is also very wary of those around him (with good cause). The supporting characters portray all that is ugly in society when a key to possibly unlock wealth and power is presented to them. Twists and turns on what Max debates is real and what is hallucination show the inner struggle of a genius searching for an answer. Max fights for what he thinks he wants, but in the end realizes that not having all the answers is a saner way to live.
