Leon~The director's cut of "The Professional" answers questions and comes clean about Mathilda and Leon...

The original version of Luc Besson's first American film was blazing with firefight action, the creepy stylings of Gary Oldman as Stansfield, the ingenuous flirtation of a young Natalie Portman, an excellent matter-of-fact view of 'the really real world', and a hint of a suggestion of an allusion to the very real romantic entanglement of a 13 year old orphan and a 40 year old hit man. This version actually deals with the relationship between Mathilda and Leon, contextualizes it with his history (and immigration catalyst) and the realistic and legitimate development of their relationship through the juxtaposition of their respectively damaged mental, physical and emotional states of maturity. Further, it deals with their professional relationship as well as making sense out of the abrupt hints that define Tony and Mathilda's dealings with one another. For those who 'got it' in the original, this fleshes out all of the details you were forced to fabricate and or assume; for those that didn't, this is what the film was meant to be. Send your copy of the theatrical release back to the studio with a nasty letter about artistic integrity and scrotal stalwartness and pick up a copy of the real film today.

Magnifico DVD. Excelente Compra!!!!!!!!!

Esta es una de mis 10 peliculas favoritas de todos los tiempos. Compre el DVD por los 25 minutos adicionales que no aparecieron en el lanzamiento original, ya que estas escenas son "violentas" y coquetean con una relacion "mas de padre e hija" entre Leon y Matilda. El director tomo un gran riesgo con esta historia, pero fue sabio en su desicion de la edicion y postergar la version sin cortes para un futuro. Sin embargo, esto no altera la historia. Vale la pena.

Excellent Movie

I recommend this movie! Jean Reno and Natalie Portman worked well together. I'm stationed overseas...i've been passing this movie around to my shipmates!

Cannot rate this film high enough. It is in my top 5 films of all time!

The acting is fantastic, the story gripping, the action feels real, and then you have the wonderful Jean Reno, Gary Oldman and Natalie Portman, if you don't see this film, it is your loss.

A hitman and a girl.

I saw this film several years ago, and recently looked for it, but couldn't remember the name of it or who was in it, so I was happy to find it again. It's the story of a guy from the old country, illiterate, living poorly, who owes a favor to a mobster. And he's a hit man, and a good one. He takes in a young girl whose family has been blown away by a crooked federal agent, and she decides she'd like to learn his trade to avenge her little brother's death. And she and the hitman develop an, um, special relationship. Great movie!
