Pink Humor and Resilience!
Purplicious
is a rewarding sequel. The pig-tailed protagonist--Pinkalicious--is as loveable as ever. But this time she's up against some real-world challenges: mean kids and self-doubt. Through her eyes we enter a personal landscape of color and emotion that contains subtle shades of humor, melancholy, and buoyant resilience. It's a journey from pink to blue and back again, splashed with a purple surprise.
Victoria Kahn's brilliant illustrations keep you laughing and exclaiming all the way through. Each spread uses a vivid color palette and layers of magical detail to animate this fanciful yet familiar world. Don't miss the quadruple-tandem bicycle ride, black Rothko and Pollock paintings, pink diary pages and moonlight, buildings covered with letters and numbers, and the ice cream flavor Magenta Mint Mango. The whimsical scenes from Pinkalicious' daily life have a startling yet natural way of reflecting her inner struggle to rediscover her pink flame.

Not as good as Pinkalicious
Let me begin by saying that I am a HUGE fan of Pinkalicious (the prequel to Purplelicious). I have bought every girl I know a copy of Pinkalicious. So when I heard Purplelicious was coming out, I pre-ordered a copy so I'd be among the first to get the book. The illustrations are just as fabulous as the first book, but I thought the story line was not as clever. The book really had nothing to do with purple until the last page or two. The story was about how Pinkalicious was being teased for liking pink instead of black. Then she finally found another little girl who liked pink or purple... it wasn't even really clear...
I recommend it because the story is cute and illustrations phenomenal, but just not as good as pinkalicious.
