Awesome Game - Works nicely on the PC
I own two Wii versions of this game so my son and I can play on the Wii. I fell in love with this game after the first note played.
I decided to get the PC version because the TV is sometimes occupied and I still want to play. Plus my PC has a nice LCD Display running at 1680x1050 (which the game supports).
I did not experience the constant lags others did. I downloaded the 1.1 patch from Aspyr before playing it however and this is probably why I have had not problems. The songs load faster on the PC than on the Wii and the graphics look better.
I am running this on an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz w/ 2 GB RAM and an ATI x1950 Pro Card with 256 MB RAM and RAID 0 HD configuration. I have all the options set up as high as they can go.
My only beef is that the wired controller is an XBox controller (it even has the XBox logo on it) while all the other GH3 versions have the newer wireless Les Paul
Guitar
s. But the feel of the guitar is that same as that of the Wii version, just doesn't look as great.
If you have a good PC system and meet the requirements I would choose the PC/Mac version over the Wii version.

A great game; an inefficient port
This game looks and plays just like the PS2 version -- but adds free multiplayer. I do not own a console, but considered buying one just to get this game. Now I do not need to.
You should take the required specs with a grain of salt. If your system meets the specs, you will only be able to play it without problems at a low resolution/low detail. In my opinion this is an inefficient port of the game. My PC has a much better video card and processor than the aging Xbox 360, which I assume was the starting point for the port. My PC meets the recommended specs, but still it stutters occasionally at high resolutions with full detail. Aspyr did issue a patch that helps a little. Make sure you get it, if you buy this game. It doesn't bother me to use a lower resolution, but if you expect to play this game at full 1080 resolution -- be prepared to buy a top of the line video card.
The game is demanding on your PC, but it is stable. I have not had the game crash once, in about 30 hours of play. I had some slight issues with disconnects in multiplayer, but I think this was solved by the previously mentioned patch.

as good as it gets for pc
Guitar
Hero
3 for PC/Mac is just like any other version. Graphics look great, game play is great, just as good as a console system would put out. The only downside to this package (in my opinion) is the guitar. It isn't anything special, but like one you would get with the prior guitar hero games. Not all spiffy like the new wireless ps3 version or the advertised guitar hero 3 controller, and is a heck of a lot louder. When
rock
ing the strum button, it can (if the volume is not all the way up) get louder than the actual song. Which, if you are a "hard-core" guitar hero fan, you wont mind, but when you have a roommate, or are trying to be quiet, it can be very annoying.
