Widescreen and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 !!!

I collect music DVD's, owning over 200. I have most all music DVD's released so far on both HD DVD and Blu-ray. I eagerly awaited the HD DVD release of Black & White Night. Of course I also own Black & White Night in regular DVD.

Sonically, the Dolby TrueHD 5.1 is easily the best video accompanied audio I have ever heard through my system. For that alone this HD DVD version is an enormous upgrade. The widescreen instead of 1:33 and much clearer video is visually a big upgrade also and I love having the instant access to the song list that HD DVD provides. "Blue Angel" is a bonus song not on the DVD version. This HD DVD now ranks as one of my top 5 fav's and a must buy.

But, I'm also hanging onto my DVD version because it includes several features surprisingly missing from this HD DVD version, most notably a "Musician's Menu" on the DVD that maps and identifies each musician by face and then provides their individual biography. The regular DVD also provides a narrative overview and snapshots of the rehearsal. I'm surprised that Image Entertainment left these off the HD DVD version and/or didn't add perhaps an interview with Barbara Orbison or some of the musician's. Nonetheless, this HD DVD version is a stunner. Sonically, over a high end audio system, this HD DVD is reference quality highlighting the multi-fold improvements of Dolby TrueHD 5.1.

Absolutely Awesome

The true hd audio that was used on this disc is absolutely amazing. Hopefully this will be a start of things to come to us in lossless audio. I hope the trend continues with other artists. Please note that you should have a stereo and a HD DVD player that outputs true hd to get the audio in full effect. The sound realism is absolutely Grade A.

Totally Awesome

If 10 stars were a possible rating it wouldn't do this justice. The cinematography and song lineup make this an absolute for any Roy Orbison fan...not to mention the spectacular line-up of "back-up musicians". The ONLY thing that could have made this production better would have been the addition of his great song "Mystery Girl", but then I guess you can't have everything. An absolute work of genius!

The Best Music Video/DVD Ever !

Roy Orbinson's warm smile and behavier make this production unique! The music, all the musicians, the atmosfere, the smoke in the air, and best of all: It's in BLACK AND WHITE.
It brings me back to an epoke where music was real.
Once a year in an cold winternight, since this production was released, my whife and I make an BLACK AND WHITE NIGHT with our friends, to watch this fabelous music Video/DVD, the best ever made!
We wll never get tired of it!

B&W Nights Great

This is a great look at Roy Orbison and many of the top musicians of the past decades performing may of Roy's great hits. It is a very enjoyable time watching this. A superior product. I highly recommend it.
