Author's Warning
If you're buying this book as a gift for your grandma or a kid, you should be aware that it contains cusswords as well as tasteful depictions of cannibalism and people in their forties having sex. Don't blame me. I told you.
Seriously, has any book ever started out better than that? And I've not even started the first chapter yet.
Josh, seven years old, was walking home one night...more than an hour late. Worried that he would be completely hosed, he didn't think the night could get any worse. That's until he saw some lady kill Santa Claus, thus ruining
Christmas
forever. And he had been a good boy this year, darn it.
Lena was trying to get into the Christmas spirit, and what better way to do it than to give Christmas trees to the needy, those families of Pine Cove that couldn't afford trees of their own? She was nearly in the Christmas spirit when her Ex, Dale, showed up engraged because she was stealing his trees, not that he cared about them, but it was the principle of the thing. He pulled a gun on her but slipped, impaling himself on her shovel, accidentally. Because of a argument they had the previous day where he hit her with a bag of ice, she was afraid of how it would look.
Theo, Pine Coves pot smoking constable, married to Molly, a one time B-Actress who was more than a few marbles short, had reason to suspect Lena, and her new boyfriend a DEA pilot of the crime, but had trouble proving it, mainly because the pilot found his `garden'.
Then There is the Arch
angel
Raziel, who came down from heaven to grant one Christmas miracle. And lucky for little seven year old Josh, his prayer is about to be answered...only not exactly as he planned.
The angel used his heavenly power to bring Santa back from the dead, who wasn't really Santa. Miracles go awry and instead of just `Santa' an entire graveyard of dead, now Zombies, rise from their not so final resting place, looking to fill up on a Christmas feast of the town folk's brains.
This book certainly has an interesting cast of characters, none of them precisely normal, many of which appeared in previous books. And I can't count the times I laughed. I loved this book and can't wait to get my hands on more of his books. It was entertaining, hilarious, and just odd enough to make it nearly impossible to put down.

My first Moore read
This is my first time reading a Christopher Moore book. It took a while for me to get into the book. I didn't really like the charactors at first, but warmed up to them about half way into the book. Being a big horror fan I was quite pleased when the book took a big turn into zombie territory. I will definitly read Moore's other books.
Not his best, but still funny
This story is funniest if you're already familiar with Christopher Moore's writing -- and many of his characters from other stories show up in it. I doubt it would be quite as funny if you don't already know him, but all of his fans out there will love it.

Chillingly Funny
The
Stupidest
Angel
is a fantastic
Christmas
read. Just the perfect thing to warm the cockles of your heart...especially if you're a fan of modern horror with a touch of gore.
Funny and silly
I picked up this book because I wanted something quick and funny to read, and this book did the trick. Some really outrageous things happen, but don't worry, it all ends well. This was a refreshing change of pace from my usually heavier fare, and the next time I want to read something light, I may well turn to Christopher Moore again.
