great for kids (and "kids")
My brothers and I spent hours watching this movie as children. Bastian's struggle to save Fantasia is entertaining and inspiring. This definitely belongs on the shelf right next to The Princess Bride.
I bought this for Christmas for my little cousins, and I hope they get as much enjoyment out of this movie as I do.
Great Fantasy Story
For kids and adults who refuse to grow up, this movie is the best fantasy

ever! I loved it the first time I saw it (as a grown adult with a child at the time) and enjoy watching it over and over. Soon I will share the experience with my grandson, when he gets a little older.

Never Ending Story Memories
Your service was prompt. This was a Christmas gift for my two sons who are now 26 and 23. A 'tie' to their past as children. Thank you.
Be careful
I remember watching this movie when I was 6 or 7 years old at school. I remember it being a little scary, but all the creatures and effects where fascinating to me. The movie continues to be a good memory from my childhood.
I bought the movie a few years back and decided to watch it again as an adult. I still enjoyed it, but there are a few things parents should watch out for before deciding to show this movie to children. It can be easily overlooked.
First, there is a scene in the movie where Atreyu has to pass through a place guarded by two statues. Well, these statues are female and nude from waist up. This may not be a big deal to some, but I felt that part of the movie was completely unnecessary.
Second, the movie is a little violent and scary for some children. I would suggest watching the movie first and making sure that you feel it is suitable for your children.

Brilliant Movie; Unsatisfactory DVD
This is a brilliant movie not only for kids, but for teens and adults as well. It's a fantasy film that makes us believe that there is always hope in this sad little world we live in. It also has memorable characters (who can forget Atreyu, Falkor, and Gmork?), amazing special effects (the Ivory Tower is purely monumental), and a spell-binding musical score (it's all keyboards instead of an actual orchestra but its still as effective).
It's a shame that this movie didn't get the special DVD treatment that it deserved. Yes, the picture quality is almost perfect, but there are only minimal special features. Let's hope that a Special Edition DVD comes along soon.
