Hilarious!!!!

This movie is extremely underrated. John Belushi plays Earl, a normal guy with a (fairly) normal wife. But when Vic (Dan Aykroyd) and his wife Ramona (Cathy Moriarty) move in next door his life is turned upside down. Whilst Vic's lunatic behaviour has Earl running round in circles, Ramona's over-the-top seductiveness leaves him panting. If it's laughs you want, then I strongly recommend this film!

This movie is packed with useable one-liners and pranks.

I have several favorite movies and this is near the top. From the very beginning of the movie this odd little neighborhood sucks you in. It's simply two houses at the end of a street. One nice house with Belushi and one run down house with the newly moved in Akroyd and his El Camino with huge whitewalls, his ultra-smokin-hot wife Ramona (aka Empress Ramona), and his backwoods 70's style KMart getups (clothes). Did I mention the man-made and ecological hazards nearby. Well I won't but they certainly add to the fun.

I use several lines from the movie on a regular basis and have converted many a friend to using them as well. For example, Akroyd insults Belushi in his own home. Belushi, responds by lambasting Akroyd and imploring him to never speak that way to him in his house. Clearly Akroyd had spoken to him in the wrong way. Akroyd responds quickly and smartly with, "why would I?". I just love this response and have used it numerous times to turn the tables when I am accused of wrongdoing?

I know it's sad to live my life based on a movie, but this movie is more accurate than real-life. Granted the events are exaggerated and condensed into a couple days time and a couple hours of film, but the movie is a modern day miracle.

Some of my favorite parts:

1) In response to his wife calming him down while he is yelling at Captain Vic (Akroyd) and Empress Ramona (Moriarty). "What?s the matter are you afraid we're gonna disturb the neighbors. These are the god da** neighbors"

2) Ramona at the dinner table commenting on a little secret that Ramona and Earl (Belushi) have, " he tried to pork me". and responding to Belushi's denial Ramona continues, "well I wasn't born with his hand in my Bush".

3) Belushi, " It's down in the swamp.. I'll go get my jacket". Akroyd responds, "we'll get your jacket later....You just take me to .... The SWAMP".

4) As Earl is sinking in the Swamps Quicksand:

Akroyd, "And that is where you saw her MAMMI.."
Belushi, "her mammal?"
Akroyd, " Her Honkers Earl"
Belushi, "But she dropped her towel"
Akroyd, "Did she drop it or did you psychically will it to fall? ".
Belushi,"Will it to fall?"
Akroyd, "Did you will her towel to fall?"
etc., etc....

Well I could go on, but that's about 12 minutes or so into the movie. I absolutely love this film.

So funny!!

If you like off beat comedy this one is for you. I laughted so hard at times I almost wet my self.

Interesting concept

Neighbors is a pretty interesting movie cause John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd's roles are reversed meaning John Belushi plays the serious role while Dan Aykroyd plays the crazy role.
This movie is about a middle aged man named Earl Keese (Belushi) who is a bored suburbanite and he and wife don't speak to each other often, then a younger couple (Dan Aykroyd and Cathy Morarity) moves in next door and the fun begins.
This movie doesn't have much of a plot but it's a good way to spend an hour and a half by watching this movie, for those who want a great performance by John Belushi may not think much of this movie but I truly think that you should give this movie a try, unfortunately this was John Belushi's last movie cause a year later he died of a heroin overdose and he will always be in my heart cause he has done so much is his short lived career from Animal House, Saturday Night Live, Blues Brothers and the underrated romantic comedy Continental Divide.

"If you liked the Blues Brothers"

Neighbors is a startling character switch for John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. Belushi has always played the somewhat whacked out lunatic fringe personality, while Aykroyd always stays just a little bit saner. In Neighbors, Belushi plays a regular boring middle class guy living a regular uneventful life until the totally whacked out lunatic fringe Aykroyd moves next door. The events that follow are great comedy and not as predictable as you might think they would be. This is a very funny movie. If you are a Belushi/Aykroyd fan, you cant miss this flick.
