LOVE THIS LIFESTYLE!
The only quibble I have with this book is that it's called a "
diet
" (a four-letter word in more ways than one). This is the lifestyle change I have been searching for that gives me delicious food to eat while enabling me to
lose
weight
that I have been carrying and unable to lose for years. Six weeks into Stage One (I haven't felt the need to move on to Stage Two), and I've lost 21 lbs. and feel great! I have consistently lost 3-1/2 lbs. a week, and it's not the false water-loss weight loss that diets like Atkins give you. The recipes are truly delicious and after the first two weeks of getting used to shopping and preparing the food, it gets much easier.
Here's the unbelievable part....In the past 6 weeks, not only have I not eaten ANY bread or processed sugar (and I have NEVER been able to do that before), but one of the reasons I started this lifestyle was because my blood pressure had started to rise and was over 135/90 before I started. Four weeks into the diet, it is now 114/75!!
I couldn't be happier, and I encourage anyone who despairs of ever finding a food plan that enables them to eat well and healthily to give this one a try. Happy eating!
UPDATE ALMOST ONE YEAR LATER: Four days after writing my review, my
fat
her fell and broke his neck and subsequently went into 3 months of decline until his eventual death. Needless to say, those 3 months and their aftermath were deeply distressing. I got through the first month or so much easier because of the weight loss I had achieved, but sad to say, because of exhaustion/no time, soon slipped into my former eating patterns. The GOOD NEWS, though, it that I regained weight, but still maintained an overall 10-lb. loss, which I have never done before after following any diet (previously, I always regained and added on another 10-lbs. on top of my former weight!). I have since returned intermittently to the Fat
Resistance
Diet (probably follow it about 50% of the time all the time), and am maintaining my weight. The GREAT
thin
g about this diet is that is does become a lifestyle, and a painless one at that, because you are always eating healthy, tasty and natural food. I still LOVE the recipes, and my friends envy my beautiful salads at lunchtime. Lifetime weight loss takes a lifetime and a lifestyle. I am so grateful that I found this book, and have it open on my kitchen counter at all times.
The other amazing thing I have noticed is that I can feel within a DAY when I have eaten the foods on the FRD as opposed to my junk food diet of pizza, chips, and sour cream. You REALLY can feel
your
arteries clogging up with the junk and cleaning out with the good food!

there are great recipes, and the concepts are simple to understand. this book really makes sense, and has helped me stabilize my
weight

While I still am working on some of the "staples" of the
diet
(I'm not used to drinking chia tea 3 X a day) the recipes I have tried are truly tasty and good. Some I've tried sound
like weird combinations, but the author knows how to put them
together to not only taste good but be truly good for you.
I didn't feel so great.
I did loose 13 lbs on this in about 5 weeks, but I didn't feel so well in the end. It seemed that while I was eating this way, chronic conditions flared up, like excema and allergies for example. Also, I have to say that I was actually hungry between meals, unlike many of the other reviewers here. The recipes were mostly good, though it cost a small fortune to buy all the ingredients. I do appreciate the
weight
loss, but I didn''t feel well, generally. Since then, I've switched to Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon, and this approach has worked well for me.

Fat Resistance Diet
While the book was easy to read, preparing the food is quite time consuming if cooking is not some
thin
g you really enjoy. Convenience foods aren't anywhere on this
diet
. Everything is fresh and requires lots of chopping. For the most part, my husband and I like the foods. However, during the first two weeks of the diet I felt that I was constantly Shopping for products, Preparing food, Eating food, or Thinking about preparing the food!!! It was stressful! And after all of that work I only lost two pounds in the first two weeks. The author says you will loose six to ten pounds in the first two weeks. I've kept up the diet (four weeks now) and it has gotten easier to prepare the foods. I have lost a total of four pounds now. The biggest change for me is cooking breakfast. In the past I typically ate cold cereal and a piece of fruit. This diet requires that one set aside time to prepare omelets and frittatas for the morning meal. While time consuming (if you are in a rush in the mornings) these breakfasts taste very good! In these four weeks I've tried some new foods. I am eating foods that are good for my health. Just wish I had lost more
weight
by now. I only wanted to loose 10 pounds. I intend to continue this diet.
