Very Enjoyable Film

The reviews I see here are astounding. Either you love this movie or you hate it. I believe the film may be too intelligent for today's sensory deprived audiences. I will just tell you what I saw in the film... an all-star cast flawlessly executing an intelligent, humorous and socially insightful script. As for the plot, I will let the movie speak for itself. While this may not be another Star Wars, I certainly will not mind having this title in my DVD collection.

True To New York's Racial Politics

I read the book and loved it, and I saw the movie and loved it as well. How people can complain about a movie having a different feel than the book that it is based on is absurd. They are two different mediums and can never be the same. Books go into so much more detail and insight that it is almost impossible to recreat it in a movie. Anyway I thought this movie was very close to the idea that Mr. Wolf was expressing. I've lived in New York city all 43 years of my life and have seen this story played out so many times it is sickening. I guess too many of the liberals and elite can't handle seeing what goes on behind the scenes(...). That's why the bad reviews. Liberals have a problem with the truth. This movie was well acted by all concerned. I feel the casting was fine, Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis, maybe F. Murray Abraham doesn't come off like Ed Koch, but he was very amusing as the mayor. I feel this movie was the best satire made in a very long time. Rent it then you will buy the DVD from Amazon. Thank you Amazon for letting me express my views and reviews on your web site.

An ambitious effort

but come on... name me 2 other films that have attempted social criticism and commentary to anywhere near the extent that this one does. It's rough to name many.

In my mind this film got panned because people didn't want to look at how banal and superficial their lives REALLY are. Is it flawed... certainly but I really enjoyed it. It has enough comedy to keep you entertained while taking a hard look at some very serious yet unpleasant issues.

Plus I just have to add that I don't think i've ever seen a Melanie Griffith film that to me would rate less than 4 stars. But by the same token I don't own any of her films because neither are any of them 5 star films but they're all good.
