A very helpful guide

I don't normally buy books - but this ended up in my cart about 2 & half years ago. i couldn't put it down on reading.

the book is as much workbook as anything - I used a notebook to do the exercises & kept the book clean - except i've highlighted notable sentences on nearly every page. You can still read it - it has Martha's tongue in cheek witty style.

i believe someone had a valid point about the "midlife housewives" vs. struggling to live. I think she acknowledges that it won't be easy ("follow your bliss, work like a dog to pay the mortgage and Hopefully the $ will follow") - page _____.

It has been 2 years of exercises & reading in the book, which inspired me to get (back) into counseling. But this time, I was ready and wanted to go - not because my husband wanted me to go. i am now back in the hunt for my missing career, acknowledging the serious problems in my marriage, back on track towards kicking SERIOUS clinical depression and living a life in line with my values, dreams & personality.

I had been six years in an unhealthy work environment, just turned 40 and not sure what I should do. This book was a wonderful gift from a friend that truly helped me to turn my life around. One of the many things I liked about Martha's perspective is that it is about your whole life. You cannot blame others but take your life by the reins and live it. After reading just 35 pages, I knew changes I needed to make.

I actually went on to her life coach training which was amazing. This is $10 that is well worth the investment.

INCREDIBLE BOOK-COVERS ALL BASES

This is the PERFECT book for anyone who is: lacking the zest for life they wish they felt, feeling staleness or boredom of their everyday routine, feeling lost in their life, feeling discontent, having trouble with motivation or reaching goals, needs to heal emotional wounds, or seeking a refreshing outlook on life. After reading this book, l had such a sense of well being and faith for the future. The steps for goal reaching are some of the best l have come across. Everything is explained very easily, and gives a perspective on things that makes you feel like you finally have answers to why things go the way they go in life. l would recommend this book to every person on the planet! (along with 'dark side of the light chasers') lts a great book for directing you to live life the way its meant for YOU, and not for pleasing everyone else or gaining their approval, and if you think about it, thats the only REAL way to live.

no matter where you are in life, on track or lost, each page offers insight after insight that filled me with a deeper understanding for how life works. Beck's brilliance of mind combines with her compassion for people and wisdom of how everything functions together (your body, your mind, the world), in a way that really just makes good sense. I found myself retelling story after story from this book because I knew it would bring joy and newfound understanding to the people I love. Martha Beck is Awesome!

Martha Beck is an enlightened being. She has been there and she is willing to hold the light on the path for the rest of us. This book has helped me through a major life change that I doubt I would have survived without her guidance and encouragement. I have given this book to all my women friends and relatives.
