Photoshop guide

This is a great book for editing people photos. As the name indicates, there are some very helpful methods to maintain color and texture that are so difficult to work on. Some of the suggestions are simple enough that even I, basically an amateur, can use them. Some methods are pretty far up the professional level. And some require more artistic judgement than I seem to possess. At times the processes presume more prior knowledge than amateurs usually have, therefore the steps to the finished product are more confusing than I can successfully use. Lots of excellent color photo examples.

This is definitely a useful addition to any photoshopaholic's user library. The instructions are sophisticated and insightful.

Lee Varis' book Skin more then just skin deep

This book is full of useful information. Many of the techniques apply to not just people photography but to image making in general. The explainations are clear and the examples are easy to follow. It is a great referance and learning tool.

Weak

I purchased this book based on the sample chapter obtained from another website and from the other online reviews. What a big dissappointment for me. There were many errors in the book and I found the techniques very over complicated compared to several other authors.
