the most empowering thing I've ever done!
I have used
fertility
monitoring for 13 years to NOT get pregnant. I had been on the pill and it killed by libido (a common side affect no one talks about) and my general passion for life. Low dose hormones just made my entire life flat. In 1994 it was very difficult to find decent, informative information out there about how to use
natural
birth
control
methods. I pieced together what I could from what was available at the time. A few years later I saw this book and, "WOW!", Toni has done such a fabulous job of really including all the information you need in a very clear, articulate manner. This is the only book to use! I have now been successfully not pregnant using fertility monitoring for over 13 years. When I do want to get pregnant, I know exactly what I need to do! The most interesting thing that has been a result of fertility monitoring is that by knowing exactly when I can or can't get pregnant, it became the most empowering thing I have ever done in my entire life! Talk about a powerful woman! I truly have the power to choose! I feel like I had been brainwashed into thinking that once I had reached a certain age, was in a certain relationship, that I should be on the pill. By not teaching us women about how amazing and powerful our bodies are, by not allowing us to truly choose when or if we can have sex or get pregnant, I think we have been profoundly disempowered. Toni has presented accurate, easy information that really make the choice of birth control and
pregnancy
so accessible and easy to all of us.
Many women think they know when they are fertile, but when I start asking them if they follow fertility monitoring rules or charting they have no idea what I am talking about. I tell them need to get Toni's book to actually educate themselves about the topic instead of pretending they know. This is the most comprehensive and user-friendly book on subject! Every women should read this book!

Great information, easy read
This book is filled with fantastic information most women will never know about their own bodies' workings. The book is actually a very fast read, with lots of anecdotes, charts, appendixes, pictures, etc. Although the author can be a tiny bit biased against hormonal
birth
control
in parts, it's still invaluable information whether or not you immediately apply it. It can be used for women (or men) trying to avoid
pregnancy
or trying to conceive, or just trying to understand how their bodies work. In my opinion this book should be required reading in high school
health
classes.

great gift
bought this for my sister who wants a baby and she found it to real informed
This book helped me get pregnant fast!
This book was GREAT... it was very informative & educational without being boring at all, it was humorous at times and comforting at others. I loved the tone of the book and the layout as well. It has sections specifically for the reader who is TRYING to conceive, as well as for the reader who is looking for a
natural
, hormone free method of
birth
control
.
Before reading, I just couldn't understand why it was
taking
us so long to conceive our first. Before I had gotten very far in the book, I realized how little I actually knew about the female
reproductive
process and when and how things take place! Needless to say, I felt a little sheepish, but since I just got a BFP last week, I have to say that the info in the book definitely had something to do with it!
I think it should be required reading and possibly even a high school class for all teenage girls. It is a shame how misinformed teens are about sexuality and their bodies. Like many women in the book, I too made way too many trips to the doctor's office, thinking something was wrong with me when I was actually only ovulating!
I plan to hold on to this book and pull it out again when I need to start using contraception again... Never again the pill for me, now that I know how to track my temperatures and body signs to analyze current
fertility
.
I HIGHLY recommend this book, no matter if you're trying to achieve or avoid
pregnancy
, or even just get to know
your
body's workings a bit better!

This if about FAM and nothing more.
This is an excellent book on the FAM method. The title of the book masks this fact into one thinking that is on all
fertility
topics. It really isn't about other topics but primarily about FAM. My wife is 12 weeks pregnant. We had to go to a Fertility clinic for various items and she is pregnant now. The other topics like IUI, IVF and other myriad of topics that a Fertility Clinic has to deal with are not covered to the extent I would like. I think the book title should be changed to what the book topic is really about FAM.
