Phantom of the Opera Novel by Gaston Leroux

This book gave a good background to the movie and was a really great translation. I felt like I was actually watching everything happening live. The characters came alive for me in each chapter. The "Phantom" definitely had my sympathy, even though he was supposed to be the villan and not the hero. Even though I watched the Movie prior to reading the book I felt the book gave me a better understanding of the movie. Definitely worth reading!

"Wonderful" couldn't begin to describe this book. The work from which Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical masterpiece came, it is a masterpiece its self, surpassing any of the versions that have been based upon it. Driving its readers to tears, this book captures the deepest emotions of the human soul through a story of love and music. It is all one can do to insist you experience this story for yourself, and assure you that you will not be dissapointed.

A review for the Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera was written by Gaston Leroux. This type of book is historical fiction. It is historical because there really was a phantom living in the cellars of the opera house, in flesh and blood. This book is also fiction because some of the characters were copied from the author's family.
The Phantom of the Opera is a book about compassion, that of which the phantom showed Christine. It is the love story between a man who hides his hideous face behind a mask and a diva who took lessons from him. It is a story of loving with terror and fear, which Christine showed the phantom. This love is what caused the great chandelier crash, the mysterious disappearance of Christine Daae, and many other mysteries that were formed around and inside the opera.
I loved this book. I loved it because it is a story that will keep you on your feet. It is a story that you will not want to put down. This book is best suited for ages ten and up. The Phantom of the Opera is an intoxicating book you will learn to love, so please, give this book a chance and read it.

The Opera ghost really existed

The Opera ghost really existed....That is how Gaston LeRoux starts his story and by the end of the book, you too believe Erik (the Phantom) exists. I found it hard to say if this book is a mystery or a romanace but it is a good read. It really goes into the moral that true beauty comes from within and though very different from a similar tale, Beauty and the Beast, the moral is the same. It is the story that Andrew Lloyd Webber based his musical on, so if you loved that you will enjoy this book.

This novel is rather slow moving. Although it has different facts than the movie, it does help to explain some thngs in the movie, such as "keep your hand at the level of your eyes."
