Organized and Percise
I have used
Rick
Steves
in the past and I like the manner in which he guides the reader not only through the city but specifically through each site. He have great tips for places to stay, eat, and just general travel tips for those who are not as savvy in European travel as he.
Each section is well organized and up-to-date. Also, he gives great history of each monument and what each little detail means. Moreoever, I love the walking tours. Such a great idea. Furthermore, his tour of the Louvre is on the money. I used him instead of anything else and I enjoyed my day there.
Arc de Triomphe, La Tour Eiffel, La Seine, Le Louvre, Notre-Dame, Quartier Latin, Montmatre all were enjoyed thouroughly because of this guide.
A definite recommend and gift to anyone going to
Paris
. I even use it when need to give a quick blerb about the history of a monument since Rick is able to it so quickly rather than drone on for pages.

Paris for Dummies (2006).
This is the only travel guide you'll need when visiting Europe's ultimate travel destination, because
Rick
Steves
knows
Paris
. First-time visitors may rely upon this guide while exploring the city's bohemian cafés, its fascinating labyrinth of streets and neighborhoods, and its many, great art museums. On my first trip to The City of Lights in 2004, I took two travel guides with me, and this proved to be the much better of the two. This is the only guide I carried with me on my second visit in December, 2005.
Steves' guide not only offers helpful maps of east and west Paris, guided walks through "historic Paris," and through the Champs Elysees, Marais, Rue Cler, Montmartre, and Left Bank areas of the city, and insightful commentary on touring the Louvre, Orsay, Picasso, and Rodin museums and Pere Lachaise Cemetery (where Proust, Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Chopin, and Colette, among others, are buried), but it also leads readers to numerous opportunities to experience Parisian culture on their own, beyond the pages of this book. For instance, Steves encourages his readers to create their own adventure by "hopping on and off" the city bus #69 route through Paris. For first-time travelers to Paris, this guide is essential.

Great!
I had his Germany book and we had a fantastic trip. We leave to
Paris
in two weeks and by having this Paris 2006 book we were able to plan our trip, know a bit about what to see and what is probably the best way for us to do it. Very excited and less nervous about visiting a country where I don't hardly speak the language! The best!
J'aime Paris avec Rick Steve!
Rick
Steve has the best Europe travel books. This new edition for
Paris
is very detailed and is so wonderful for it's museum guides, hotel suggestions (used these on a trip to Italy when stranded over night in Verona by accident... life saver!), and how he tries to get you around all the super touristy destinations so that you can experience the real Europe. Must take this book on your next trip to Paris!

Good preparation for a trip to Paris
Even though I have not been to
Paris
yet, this book provided good preparation for our trip in May. Since we only have a few days in Paris, the organization provides good insight into good walking tours and many of the highlights you would not want to miss with a limited number of days.
