A Valuable Contribution to the Public Discourse

'Power To The People' is a thoughtful and practical look at they myriad of problems facing our nation today.

Laura Ingraham covers a wide variety of topics including the following: illegal immigration, activist judges, failing schools, terrorism, the 'pornification' of our culture, and attacks on the family.

Her writing style is clear and concise. She makes it simple for even the most obtuse to 'get it'. For example, in her chapter on the poor quality of public schools, she discusses teacher tenure and merit pay. In her words, 'You don't have to be a raging capitalist to realize that if teachers don't get pay raises for teaching well, and if they don't get fired for teaching poorly, you'll end up with a whole lot of bad to mediocre teachers.'

Ms. Ingraham's criticisms are applied equally to those who are problems regardless of party affiliation. She certainly does not attack just Democrats. She has directed her comments toward well known Republicans including George W. Bush, John McCain, Chuck Hagel, Lindsey Graham, and Arlen Specter. This book is clearly not some sort of partisan diatribe.

Although I have never heard the author's radio show, I plan to do some listening to it. She is obviously very well informed, passionate, and on target (in my opinion) with most of her ideas.

I would recommend this book for anyone who is concerned about the decay of the country. She not only points out the problems, but she has several suggestions for helping to turn things around.

POWER TO THE PEOPLE BEGINS HERE

Well written, easy to read book. Empowering information with culture changing application methods at the end of each chapter. I'm recommending this book to all family members and friends.

great book

Power to the People

Part expose, part practical manifesto, and wholly entertaining.

Recommended by Lou Dobbs.

Tells how to stop the madness.

It's time for the common American to be the political activist

Regardless of your political affiliation, Laura Ingraham is someone to be respected. She makes no attempt to hide her traditional conservative values, but she also avoids the tactics of the political radicals and extremists that have corrupted the proud tradition of American political debate. She is fair, honest and heart-spoken.

Her latest book is a proverbial call to arms, through the democratic process. Her target audience is the common everyday American. The person who works hard at their 9-5 job, struggling to teach their children right from wrong and pass a strong country and stable future to the next generation. These are the people who need to get involved to protect America from the radicals that seek to weaken her. Our apathy is just as dangerous as their extremism. It's Ingraham's hope that today's backbone of America are tomorrow's political activists, as it should be.

Our pornified culture and loss of traditional American values, coupled with pathetic leadership from self-serving politicians and a growing threat from anti-American internationalists all warrant action from common Americans. We've done it before. Common Americans, both left and right leaning, united to defeat Bush's amnesty bill and stop Harriet Meir from reaching the Supreme Court. These are 2 examples of the power of the people, and serve as inspiration for further action to take America back.

Bravo for Ms Ingraham. Keep up the good work.

How bad does it have to get...?

...before we take the power back that we have so willingly given up to the federal, state and local governments and institutions. Laura Ingraham's Power to the People is a book whose intention is to spur action and it succeeds in doing so.

Chapter after chapter and topic after topic she lays out, often humorously, our current situation on topics such as, judges, our educational system, our culture, the family and several more. Be sure to have a pen or pencil and a notebook ready because I believe you will want to take notes. And if you have never written in a book before this may be the one you start doing so in.

I recently saw Ms. Ingraham at an event and she discussed how she wanted this book to be a "blueprint". I believe she has succeeded and I know it has personally made me further commit to taking action. If each conservative minded individual would take up at least one cause passionately we will turn the tide of where this great nation is heading.

Perhaps because of space limitations or because she didn't want to risk being "preachy" the one lacking thing in Power to the People was more direct actions we as a people could take. While Ms. Ingraham does an excellent job of presenting the issues, I believe some more specific actions could have been given and it is this reason only that I give it four stars. However, her intention may have been to simply spur thought and to let each individual formulate their strategy of how to counteract our current situation.

Let's take back the power!
