I'm so glad I discovered Moore
I found Christopher Moore while on a business trip last year. This book made the down time in the hotel more than bearable - I was absolutely addicted to this book, and I'm so glad I had four nights alone in which to finish it. It's a great story, his characters are totally nuts, and I don't know where his imagination comes from, but I want some of what he's having!!!
Honestly, if you want a book that makes perfect sense, I don't recommend this. If you're willing to experiment and go "huh" a couple of times, then definitely, take a chance on anything by Moore. Lamb is also brilliant!

YET ANOTHER WINNER BY CHRISTOPHER MOORE
Yet another winner by Christopher Moore. I found myself riveted from the first page! Hilarious, wildy entertaining!
I can quit anytime...really.
I'm not sure there's anything scarier than a confirmed Vonnegut and Tom Robbins junkie looking for a fix and having exhausted every page ever written by the aforementioned. But, hallelujah, I'm here to give testimony that miracles do exist. Whether by accident or fate, I stumbled on Christopher Moore and I hope he can keep the gems coming faster than I can devour them.
Get ready for a WARP 9 ride through a parallel universe! You will come out of the worm hole with a big grin and more than a little enlightened.

Hilarious commentary on cargo-cults
Poor Tucker Case, his life has come crashing down, literally. Tucker the pilot makes the mistake of taking a young lady of questionable morals for an airplane ride in a pink Lear jet owned by a cosmetics company called Mary Jean Cosmetics. The resulting crash damages his pride and manhood, as well as losing him his job. His supposed best friend hustles him onto a plane to Micronesia to fly a Lear 45 for a medical missionary and his wife. The wife is the high priestess of a bizarre cargo-cult started on the basis of the art on a World War II bomber which crashed on the
island
. The islanders are reformed cannibals, who are rewarded by the priestess with magazines and cigarettes. Add Kimmi, the transvestite co-pilot, his talking fruit bat Roberto, and the disgraced shaman of the Shark People and you will laugh long and hard as the story unfolds.

Moore has been better...
I'm a recent discoverer of Christopher Moore, this being the third book of his I've read in the past couple months (the first 2 being Dirty Job and Bloodsucking Fiends). While

was a decent read, I preferred the other books much more. So if you're new to Chris Moore, I'd start with a different book.
Why didn't I like this book as much? It was the characters. I felt they were mostly throw aways that I never felt much about. The story could have been shorter, it meandered at times. And the gags weren't near as funny as the other books.
