Helen Mirren Offers a Totally Compelling Portrait of Elizabeth I

This film is absolutely superb! Helen Mirren's portrayal of the great Renaissance queen is simply mesmerizing. She shows the multifaceted qualities of this fascinating historical figure. She offers a finely-nuanced performance, providing all the subtleties of characterization that make Elizabeth live and breathe in this film. I have seen all of Mirren's magical character work, but her powers here are simply beyond compare. This performance will go down in history as one of the best (if not, THE BEST) of our time. I recommend this wholeheartedly to everyone the world over. Mirren is surely the 21st century's finest actress.

EXCITING movie, well acted!!

This is an exciting, action-packed movie! It is not a cerebral, "Masterpiece Theatre" wordy drama (although I love those too)! It has political intrigue, humor, thrilling action, and fantastic acting that really brings that period alive! The screen fairly crackles with energy!!

This is an excellent movie. I really enjoyed it. The Elizabethan period is one of my favorits.

Beautiful Movie Visually Great Cast

This movie has some of the most spectacular costumes and visusals for the castle's and atttire of the time. The cast is also great and fitting for the movie. This is a wonderfull story and was well done but is not completely accurate but a great movie non the less.
