City of Angels Soundtrack
I love this soundtrack! There are songs here to make you get up and go - Eric Clapton's "Further On Up The Road" & songs that you can just chill out to - U2's sublime "If God Will Send His
Angels
". Alanis Morissette proves once again what an amazing talent she is with "Uninvited" which starts off softly and climaxes into a mix of strings, percussion and electric guitars. Jude produces a jewel in the thought provoking "I Know" while "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls blends together parts of the film's story with a great guitar laden melody. Gabriel Yared's score is wonderful, just sit back, close your eyes and let those tear-jerking melodies speak for themselves. However the highlight of this soundtrack for me is the spine tingling "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan. The simple piano melody is hauntingly beautiful and with Sarah's silky smooth vocals, the two combine to make a song which will leave you with the hairs standing on the back of your neck - absolute perfection. Nobody should be without this soundtrack. If I had to sum it up in just one word - Heavenly!

A great soundtrack
I have never seen the movie, but it sure does have a great soundtrack. Every song on here, including the original score pieces by Gabriel Yared are good. With it's eclectic mix of styles
from
blues to rock to alternative to orchestral score, this album is a keeper. My particular favourites are Sarah McLachlan's "Angel" and Alanis's "Uninvited", but the soundtrack is good from beginning to end that I never need to skip songs. The booklet includes track info and photos from the film.
Truly inspirational CD
This is a beautiful collection of many inspirational and gorgeous songs. True, some of them are pretty bad ... but they are made up for with beautiful tracks by some of today's best artists. The true highlight on here is Sarah McLachlan's song Angel, which took adult contemporary radio by storm and made it to a few major compilation CDs. This song has beautiful lyrics and is a very nice piece of work. And who hasn't heard Alanis Morisette's Uninvited? This was a huge single that was on almost every radio station. Another big single
from
this was Iris by Goo Goo Dolls. This is another great song with quality lyrics. I think Iris is definately one of the best on the album. U2's track If God Will Send His
Angels
is another standout here, and it's ranks right up there for me with Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me and With Or Without You for my favorite U2 song. Of course Paula Cole also does an excellent job with her track. If you want some really, really, really good
music
than definately get this soundtrack. It's one of my faves in my collection.

This is pretty good!
I saw this movie and really enjoyed the instrumental
music
in it. So I had to buy the cd. I really liked the songs on it,but was a little dissappointed to find that only four of the songs on it were orchestral music. It's still good and "Uninvited" and "Iris" are two of my favorites. If you liked the movie, get this cd.
Inconsistency typical of Soundtracks
Rarely do you get transcendent soundtracks, due to the often disparate
music
al styles found on them, adding up to an overall inconsistent listen. Never has this been more true on a Soundtrack than here, with "
City
of
Angels
." Great Americanized remake of Wim Wenders movie. There are some truly great songs on the soundtrack to go with the movie. U2 is back in true form after straying with their Pop Mart disco ... days. Morissette's Uninvited is powerful, frantic, discomforting (in a good way), and entirely listenable. Paula Cole does one of the best "striptease" backing music songs in the wholly sexy, "Feelin' Love" with the classical line, "you make me feel like a candy apple, red and horny." All I can say is, "WOW!" Another great line
from
that song is, "Damn skippy baby!" Great stuff. Sarah McLachlan's Angel is beautiful. Goo Goo Dolls "Iris" is great...so you ask what's not to like about it. Interspersed through this modern music cornucopia is some classical blues from Jimi Hendrix, John Lee Hooker and Eric Clapton entirely ruining a through-listen of the entire CD. There's absolutely zero cohesion. To top it off, there is a film score orchestral numbers at the end by Gabriel Yared himself. I've never listened to the CD straight through once. It's rare that film soundtracks are able to gain cohesion throughout and this is perhaps the leading example of that fact.
