Boyz N The Hood
This is a story of three friends growing up in South Central Los Angeles, the friends are Tre Styles the scholar (Cuba Gooding JR) Ricky Baker the jock (Morris Chestnut) and Darin 'Doughboy' Baker the would-be gangster (Ice Cube) Tre is the only one with a father played by Lawrence Fishburne while ricky and doughboy don't and there mom only likes Ricky. There is some good acting and this is a great
hood
movie which i highly recommend to hood movie fans
Haunting Inner City Movie
It's been some time since I saw "
Boyz
'N the
Hood
" but much of it has stayed with me. I was impressed by so many of the elelments that went into making this such an excellent movie; the acting, the directing, the writing, the editing, virtually everything. I'm just a fellow who grew up in Iowa and lives in North Dakota so I'm hardly one qualified to praise this film for its' realistic portrayal of inner city life. I don't know if this movie is "realistic" or not in that regard. However, I know that the writer and director had a message to convey and they conveyed it well.
"Boyz 'N the Hood" is about many things. It is about the challenge of raising a child in a one-parent home. It is about the senselessness of random, pointless violence. It is about the limited means of escaping the ghetto as a child growing up in it (and it does an excellent job of contrasting the dependability of education over sports). It is about the importance of having pride and respect for your self. There are so many messages on so many levels that it is hard to absorb them all in a single viewing. That is what is so impressive about this movie.
Although the movie shows us dead ends, violence, emptiness, failure, sorrow and despair, it leaves us with hope and an appreciation that that the straight and narrow road is still the best route to success no matter what the point of embarkation.

Clasisc drama but with some sterotypes!!
This film is great and classic. This is the best creation of John Singleton, nomitated for two oscars: director and writer, this is the film that started it all: inspired "Don't be a Menace" and "Grand Theft Auto San Andreas". This movie is WHORTH buying it!!!
One of the reviewers above said that the movie contains to many sterotypes, it's not THAT true!! but I think he meant to the movie "Don't be a Menace".
The stereotypes in this film are that the black people are VERY,VERY dangerous and few are educated (this is even worst than the Hollywood movies), black people addicted to sex, black people always cursing and black people always hearing Hip Hop music (this is one of the WORST and ANNOYING sterotypes ever).
The movie is also blaming other people for the problems in the
hood
and I don't understand why the "N" word is a horrible and racist word if they keep saying that all the time!!!
P.S: Don't get me wrong! This is one of the best movies I ever seen! Im addicted to it!!! and when I said that stuf abou Hip Hop I meant that not all the black people hear Hip Hop.
ADIOS!!
