Thorn Birds

Love the book - couldn't wait for the movie and was not disappointed! I have watched it many times, and enjoy it each time. The story was so involved and the movie just about captured every event, which is why it took two DVDs or 3 CDs (yes I have both) to show the entire story. A great way to spend a cold, winter day!

The Thorn Birds......misunderstood

The Thorn Birds mini-series is an honest-to-goodness adaptation by Carmen Culver of a classic novel by Colleen McCullough. It is sad to note that people who have read the book tend to compare it with the movie. I myself have read the book, and I can say that Ms Culver couldn't have done it better. The thing is, comparing a classic novel to an adaptation, no matter how brilliant it was done, just doesn't add up - a novelist versus a screenwriter is a no contest. That is the reason why it could not garner the 5-star overall rating it so rightfully deserves.

The Thorn Birds is one of the best things that happened to television in the 80's. It is a timeless classic that was as heartwarming then as it is now, 23 years later.

This is one of the best, if not the best, love story of all time.

Thr Thornbirds

I have not played the CD set yet as I'm still in the US and have mailed them home to Australia but will play them when I get back in May 2006 so rating it is a bit unfair at the moment but my submission will not be accepted without it. I have seen the series twice on TV and loved it so can't see why the ones I bought should be any different.

A Heavenly DVD

This DVD is a must see!! Some scenes show more than the movie on television and was just fabulous. Definely buy this and you won't be sorry.

Excellent

I don't expect anything more of a movie than to enjoy it and be entertained. I don't seek to psychoanalyze or offer up in-depth critique, it's only a movie. I either enjoy it or I don't. I really enjoyed this, it's a great story.
