The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street 3CD

Rod Serling surprises everyone with his Twilight Zone books. I think it was pretty cool how he used to be a boxer and a gym teacher. The setting in his, " The Monsters are due on Maple Street," is Maple Street. It was like any street back then. It was clean, normal, and had friendly neighbors like Charlie, Steve, Pete Van Horn, the Goodman's, and even a kid.
I feel like the title means that the monsters, or the aliens, are going to be due, or coming to all the Maple Streets of the world. " Their world is full of Maple Streets. And we'll go from one to the other and let them destroy themselves."(p.684.)
One part I found unbelievable is when Charlie blamed the little boy, Tommy, just to get people off his back. If I were that little boy I would have cried along with everyone else yelling and screaming and fighting. " It's ... it's... the kid. It's Tommy. He's the one!"(p.681.)
The part I found confusing was why the aliens only wanted to destroy the Maple Streets of the world. If I were the alien I would want to take out the major countries like the USA, Russia, Brazil, Germany, and other countries like that. " By no means. Their world is full of Maple Streets. And we'll go from one to the other, and let them destroy themselves." (p.684.)
The lesson I learned in this is that I shouldn't go around blaming other people when I have no evidence, and that I should always keep a cool head and not freak out or anything like that. If I am ever in a situation like these so-called neighbors I will definitely handle it differently. " Where's that kid-Let's get him. Get Charlie-Get Steve, their working together. It isn't the kid, it Bob Weaver's house. It isn't Bob Weaver's house. It's Don Martin's place. I tell you it's the kid. It's Charlie, he's the one!"(pgs. 682 and 683.)
I read this book because the whole class had to read it. I personally have always wanted to read a Twilight Zone book, so I would probably end up reading this anyway. We read the teleplay version, so we got to see every camera angle and everything. It was pretty cool. " There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space, and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow- between science and superstition. And it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call The Twilight Zone."(p.667)
My opinion on the book is that it is freaky and scary, but at the same time it awesome! I liked the aliens a lot. In the teleplay it calls them figure 1 and figure 2. Not only does this Twilight Zone book make you think, but also all the Twilight Zone books make you think. That is what I like about them

the monsters are due on maple street

The Monsters are Due on Maple Street was a very good story but, an even better movie. Rod Serling created this story for the T.V. series The Twilight Zone. The characters were the neighbors. One of the characters was Pete Van Horn; in the story he went to the next neighborhood to see if the electricity was out or not. When he was walking back to Maple Street he was mistaken for an alien and was shot later. The setting is Maple Street. I feel that Rod Serling was a very good fictional writer. I learned that he was a former boxer.
There is something that I wonder about in the story, where did the aliens come from? They look like humans except for the antenna sticking out from the top of their heads. I feel that he should have given us that information. Were they from Mars, Venus, Neptune, maybe Pluto. This gives us an eerie sense of how far away are they and, why did they come? Are they superior or inferior to the human race in one way such as strength or another such as intellect? These questions we may never know that information belongs to Rod Serling.
One thing that confuses me is why did the extra terrestrials choose Maple Street? I mean why not Main Street or even Central Avenue? They could have just as easily chosen Tiger Drive or even River Road. If this were the situation the destruction would have been even larger and fuller in effect. It is just so confusing, out of the whole entire world, which has billions of streets, roads, avenues, so on and so forth.
My favorite part was when Steve shot Pete Van Horn. The whole entire neighborhood saw silhouette of a man walking down the street. Steve pulled out his shotgun and Charlie took it away saying," a shotgun? Why in the world do we need a shotgun?" Then Steve took it back saying," Charlie you would let whatever is out walk right into us would not ya?" Then Steve took aim, waited for the right moment, and then he shot without any hesitation. Steve killed whoever and whatever was out in the darkness. Everybody ran over to see what it was and Charlie said in a low and sad voice," it is Pete Van Horn" then a woman said," he had only gone over to the next neighborhood to see if the electricity was out or not." That was my favorite part because there was some violence some action some heart break, everything that has made good stories great, and great stories greater. I like books with violence because it makes the story more suspenseful.
My favorite character is Steve. He has a laid back attitude and takes life as it comes and takes life one-step at a time. He also introduced the gun into the story, which surprised many people, and like I said in the last paragraph that is what makes a good story, action, suspense, and death or heartbreak. Steve just struck me as a smart and good guy, except for shooting Pete Van Horn, but he only did it because he thought it was an alien and was only trying to protect everybody.

rod serling created a good book

By Nick Carunchia

Rod sterling created a good book called "the monsters are due on Maple Street" He is a former boxer. The book is not so common now. Charlie thinks he is the know it all. Steve is the wise one in the book. And even include nosey gossip. The only objection I have is that they didn't portray woman as leader in the day. He was a P.E.Teacher.

I feel that they blame Tommy when he did not do any thing wrong. All he did is tell them what he knew about the aliens that he read in a book. T feel like it was Charlie because he shot Pete van horn as soon as he saw him walking down the street He just shot him like that. He thought it was aliens.

I don't know why they blame Tommy so much when he did not do any. I wonder why they blame Tommy so much when they don't know that is was he so they should stop
Blaming Tommy for what some one else did. I think it was Charlie. Because he is blaming every body for what he probaly did he is the one that shot Pete van horn as soon as he saw him he just shot him in the cheats just like that. I like the part when all the lights started to flash on and off the whole street it was the best part I think so. The book is a good book to read to young kid. They should blame someone else instead of Tommy I think they should blame someone else instead of Tommy. And I like the part when the motor and they get scared. And then the light started to flash. Then they were blaming any body they saw their lights flashing on and off. They all started to get scared when the lights started to flash on and off. I thought it was funny. But it is a good book to read so you should read the book to any body you can read it to.

My favorite part is when the anilines come to town. And the lights started to flash on and off that is the fun part I think so don't you think so. But don't know if they are aliens or monsters. The monsters or aliens are the ones that I think that turn off the lights don't you think so too. The part that was confusing is when the aliens come to town and turn the lights off.

My oppions is that the book is better than the book the book is not the best, but it is not the worst of all the books I have read in the whole entire world I think so. The movie is better than the book because the move shows pitchers and the book does not show pitchers that are why I like the book better than the book. That is why the monster are due an maple street is a good book to read and watch the movie to.

The Monsters are Due on Maple Street 3AA

"The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" is a science fiction TV episode. I thought everyone just wanted to find someone to punish for the meteor appearing. Charlie and Steve begin arguing. Just because someone's lights turn on and off they think that he is an alien. Steve tries to keep everyone sensible but it is of no use. The arguing leads to chaos and everyone begins to fight all of their neighbors. In this scene, the arguing made everyone so tense that Don brought a shotgun, this foreshadowed that someone would be shot, and it showed that the human race has to find someone to throw the blame on.
I think the arguing made the reader want to find out what happens. Rod Serling made his characters very tense. This act started to build when Goodman's car suddenly started. Then the crowd hears that he stares up at the sky at night. The crowd later points a finger at Steve when Don tells them about how his wife has been talking about how Steve has been talking on a ham radio no one has ever seen." Myra's talked about how there's been plenty of nights you spent hours down in your basement workin' on some kind of radio or something. Well, none of us have ever seen that radio---"(677) I knew some sort of fight was about to break loose. Then when Don brings a shotgun you really seem to know what is going to happen next.
When Don brings a shotgun into the scene this foreshadowed that someone was going to be shot. You just knew it would happen with everyone so tense. When you saw Pete van Horn walking down the road looking like a black cloak with Charlie aiming the gun at him even before you read it you knew Charlie would pull the trigger. Charlie was so scared of this figure he raised the rifle and shot him. "Charlie slowly raises the gun. As the figure gets closer and closer he suddenly pulls the trigger." (679)
The arguing and the gunshot really showed that someone just had to be blamed. They had to pinpoint someone. He showed that they could not accept that it might not be any of their neighbor's faults. It couldn't be someone else! It just has to be explained! As an alien said, "They pick the most dangerous enemy they can find ... and its themselves! All we need to do is sit back ... and watch."(683)
I find, that The Monsters are Due on Maple Street was a pretty good little teleplay. It didn't take too long to read the story. It wasn't like a novel that takes weeks to read. Rod Serling wrote this story very well. As we read it in class, parts of it were boring, but were made much better by my classmates who acted like them. One boy who played the part of the woman was particularly funny. Hearing him make this high-pitched voice which was completely opposite of his own made many of us laugh. Over all this was a pretty good teleplay.
