GREAT BOOK

I've been reading through some of the reviews and I am absolutely shocked and appaled that some people gave this a poor review. Yeah, it is a completely outlandish book, but if you are a Christopher Moore reader, what did you expect?
I have to say that I enjoyed Lamb a little more, but otherwise this is as good as Moore gets.

I want more Moore!

Christopher Moore has some writing/philosophical qualities akin with Tom Robbins, yet his writing is a little lighter, a little more absurd in a very funny and entertaining way. This book uses interesting language, has hysterical, real, funny, loveable characters; a few less realistic, yet still very funny characters (whaley boys!), and a typical Moore-style plot: some twists and turns yet tight and consistent. Why does the winged whale sing? Read this and find out while at the same time learning a fair bit of info about whale song research and some good, accurate Hawaii descriptions.

Delightfully humorous, deeply thought-proviking

Christopher Moore is peerless in today's literary landscape - a breath of fresh air. His characters are fully developed and recognizable. "Fluke"'s story line is quirky, imaginative and waaayyyyy out there. This guy is the real deal! What a treasure!

Whale Envy

So you just picked up a copy of a Christopher Moore's "Fluke"? I can only envy you. You are about to step into one of the most brilliantly warped imaginations on this side of the twenty-first century. Moore has pioneered the literary figure of the "Action Geek." You'll see what he means by that after your first few pages - by then, you will be hooked. It's a nice addiction really. You'll like it. So sit back, relax and enjoy; after all you are about to learn the secret as to why the winged whale sings. What could be better than that on such a lovely evening?

Weird Funny & Funny Weird

Wow, just when I thought Moore couldn't get any stranger. Fluke is the wierdest of his books. That's saying a lot considering his body of work. This book really takes some bizzare 180 turns. However, beacuase of C.M's amazing ability to write real and identifiable characters, you won't mind. The characters keep you grounded in the story. That is always the case with a C.M book, but this one must have taken all he could muster. Laugh out loud funny. Fast paced. Highly recommended. Go buy all his books!
