A Work of Art!
I have to say that I was a bit skeptical when I bought this CD. I really liked the few songs I had heard, but you know how it is. You're poised to be disappointed by every other song. "A
Beautiful
Lie
" was a beautiful surprise. I loved each and every song on the album. The music is intricate, the lyrics thought provoking. This is definitely music that will transport you and I just don't get tired of listening to it. I love it and can't wait for their next CD.
Just Great.
One of the best Cds I've heard lately. Almost every song is great. Especially good to listen in a car while driving. My favorite songs are "The Kill", "Was it a Dream", "The Story", "R-Evolve", "A
Beautiful
Lie
", "Savior", "From Yesterday". I read that Jared Leto wrote all the songs. He is so talented!

An amazing and unexpected treasure
We are fairly fickle about our CD collection and the quality the bands must maintain. Having said that, some bands are not purchases out-of-the-gate, or on release day. For a few, like this 30 Seconds to Mars CD, they have to glean our interest from radio and video releases first.
And wow, have they done that. Once FROM YESTERDAY came out, we knew we had to own the CD. But it was soon apparent that was only the beginning. If you are worried that the constant yelling vocals of Jared Leto may indicate an album that is "less than," DON'T BE! From start to finish this CD has no deletable tracks - a feature that gets quite a bit of use in our household (we can clear CD tracks from the player that we do not want it to play).
Don't waver any more if you are questioning the addition of this CD to your collection. The radio and video hits are only a hint of what is being offered, and we look forward to the next 30 Seconds to Mars release.
I cannot really equate them to any other band, which is the most difficult part of assessing the quality of the 30 Seconds tracks. That alone should be an indicator of why this CD is a must-own.

A bit catchy....3 1/2
For those that think that "30 Seconds to Mars" is complete genius with complex song-writing and building on progressive sounds from the 70's and 80's, you might want to take that musical theroy class ASAP! "30 Seconds to Mars" is none of the above, but that isn't a bad thing. I have seem them all over TV and magazines lately, but since they have been popping up all over CDNOW evertime I log on, I had to see what all the fuss was about. Just by their looks alone, I was thinking that they were going to be like the other 1000 bands that are out there today, that dont have an one bit of talent, and clutter the airwaves with their bubblegum lolly dahh so-called music.I was hoping to give them a good whipping on this review, just like all the other punk/pop bands that I despise. "30 seconds to Mars" surprised me, and I was finding them very easy to listen to with some catchy tunes and some good pop rock. (this isnt even close to Metal or even NU Metal so please dont call them that) A real surprise, and even though they arent the most talented musicans in the world, they do seperate themselves from the other junk in this genere, by using clean vocal styles and keeping their sound (even though simple) a bit different then the hundreds of other bands that they stand before. You want to hate them, but you just cant, because this is a pretty decent listen, and you might find yourself hooked, even though you dont want to be. It isnt perfect, as there is some filler on here, but a slightly above average band is a good thing, when the pop musical scene is caught in the sewer.
