Look no further. This blender is AWESOME!

First, let me respond to a few poor reviews that made me a little concerned about purchasing this blender. One reviewer said "The little plastic "plug" in the lid fell through into the blender as I was using it". He may have gotten a defective one, but the one that I got would have no realistic way for the plastic "plug" to fall through the hole in the lid. It is very well made and would have to be forced VERY HARD for it to even have a chance of making it through - regardless of the angle at which you put the plug. Another reviewer said "the one I received had a jar that did not sit comfortably on base." Again, if that happened I hate it for that guy. The jar I got sat on the base quite well. Another reviewer said, "You CANNOT get your goods back out of this thing without making a mess." The blender I got is very easy to pour from.
Now let me tell you how awesome this thing is. I had a Hamilton Beach blender for a few years that did okay. It would make smoothies and shakes, but would take quite a while and would ALWAYS leave chunks of ice that did not get blended. Even if I left it on for a full minute it would not get the job done. When I used this new Oster 6684 for the first time I made a shake the way that I normally do with some fruit, milk, and ice. After about 10 seconds I could not find a single chuck of ice in the entire shake. In two years with my old blender there were always chunks of ice - always. I could not be any happier with the Oster. Hope this is helpful.

Oster Blender

This has the nice thick glass that I like. I do not like the plastic ones. I had my old Oster blender since 1971 and it finally got the bottom casing craked but it still worked like new, just didn't seem safe to use it that way. I keep the glass container though and it works on this one as well. Nice to have two glass containers. I wouldn't buy any other brand at any price.

Gift for my Husband

Purchased this for my Husband, he loves 'blendies' in the morning for breakfast, he loves it, I chose black to go with my kitchen, and, wanted the 'glass' this time, as the plastic ones seem to have an odor after awhile..price is right and we are satisfied.

Great blender for low price

I have only had this product for about a week. I have created several smoothies for myself and my family as well as some iced coffee. The blender is fairly quiet as blenders go and does a great job on ice. Buttons provide firm feedback and the glass container feels very strong. I had not owned a blender for a few years so I surprised at the advance in technology while still having a very reasonable price. As always shipping using Amazon Prime was lightning fast!

Makes Fastest and Best Smoothie

I got this blender to replace my dying 2 year-old KitchenAid, which
I thought was going to last much longer.

After reading the reviews on this model and seeing the price, I had
to try one. I removed it from the box about a half hour ago, and already
have made my first smoothie, from a banana, hard-frozen fruit and
8 oz of soymilk.

I've never had a blender, even the expensive KitchenAid, that
could handle grinding down the "ice", while also blending every
bit of the soft banana together, without some chunks of frozen
stuff or banana globs remaining in the mix. This blender did it!
And really fast, too, which is even more amazing.

There are downsides: Look at the price. There must be something.
The blender really is noisy, and it it's not just the volume, but
that it has a much rougher sound than other blenders I've owned.
(Think "chainsaw" or "leaf blower", rather than Formula One ;).
It takes a sense of humor to like that part of it. And I suggest
you take Oster's claim of "continuous, smooth blending" lightly.
The stuff inside the blender is smooth, but the sound of it
happening is not! :)

The build quality overall seems like that of other blenders in its
price range. (Photos can be deceptive, so don't expect too much.)

However, the jug is real glass! The blades are really sharp!
And the design overall is very reasonable. Nothing really fancy,
designed to be easily affordable. The noise is supposedly because the gears
are metal, for reliability. It seems there are no non-metal parts
in the drivetrain anywhere, right out to the blades. I like that, because
plastic or rubber parts were the weak links in all of my previous blenders,
including the $100+ KitchenAid.
