This wasnt that bad

Ok ok ok I know this movie was all bottom backwords. but like I read in one review the CGI back in the days wasnt that great so if they did use it, this movie would of been ten times worse. But still for what it was, it wasnt that bad. Could it of been better? Yes. Actually it coulf of been a lot better. they could of gotten costumes and made this movie more like the game. And hey here is a good question. If i remember. and for those who watched through the credits. Remember that Daisy came back to Mario and Luigi and was like hey you guys need to come back or something like that and she had that gun, which kinda implied that all hell has broken loose again? Well that was a big opening for a sequal. Did this movie do that bad that the gave up on the sequel? I think a good sequel to this movie would be featuring Wario. I dunno I would still like to see a sequal to this movie. I would also like to see a Zelda movie *which there is an independant one in the works* and a Metroid movie. well anyways I think i might still get this movie for my kid after he gets a little older.

SUPER MARIO BROS.

I LIKE THIS MOVIE ALOT!! ITS FUN, FUNNY, AND SO OLD SCHOOL...(WELL LIKE AS OLD SCHOOL AS I CAN GET) ITS GREAT FOR KIDS OR PEOPLE WHO LIKE STUPID FUNNY OR DIG THE NINTENDO ERA!

Kinda really cheesy, but honestly not too bad!

A lot of people give Super Mario Bros. The Movie serious flack because it just isn't like the video games. While that is definitely true, I really don't see how a live-action film could emulate the games at all. As it is, Bob Hoskins makes a rather funny Mario, the acting isn't bad, and the movie is simply entertaining and wacky. Isn't that all that counts? The old TV show was much, much worse than this. Who cares if the goombas are big lizard thugs and King Koopa is Dennis Hopper with funky hair? I certainly don't. Give it a chance. There actually is some rather good humor here if you just ignore the fact that it has NOTHING to do with Mario Bros.

Roll with it

The best thing I can say about the 'Super Mario Bros.' movie is that I don't think anyone could have dreamt something remotely resembling what it ended up being.

You know what? I like it. Yes, for the most part, it's absurd, contrived, and goofy. The thing is, it almost revels in it. Even though the whole film is one big, weird mess, none of the actors seem like they're on auto-pilot. These are good, respected actors too.

What the film really has going for it, above all, is a unique world -- parallel universe, if you will -- that is both bizarre and fun. It's completely unpredictable. In making such an atmosphere the filmmakers seem to borrow elements from more renowned films, but the seeming integration goes unnoticed after all the pieces are stitched up to make 'Super Mario Bros.'' world complete.

I'm fond of it. I was a fan of the games when I was a kid, but I was never devastated to see such a re-working when translated to film. Even then, I thought the film was forgettable, but there were remains that existed in my memory until my second viewing -- over ten years since my first -- just last night. Watching it again, the creative disposition of the film jumped out at me once more, allowing me to understand why some particular visuals stayed with me since I was a child.

Whacky, stupid, and even painful in parts, yes. Overall, though, a commendably DIFFERENT product; audacious even, in retrospect. Yet again, I don't think anyone could have predicted anything close to what ended up being the 'Super Mario Bros.' movie. This day in age, that's worth a lot.
