Great lesson - opens discussions with children

I am so sad to see all the negative reviews on this book. The first time I read both Pinkalicious and Purplicious to my three year old daughter I was concerned about the words used and subject matter. In both cases, the book has opened up great discussions with this little person who understands more than we realize and needs help forming her opinions and actions when faced with mean girls, bad words and too many cupcakes! Hiding our children from situations they will most likely face does not protect them. I wish I could protect my girls from all the bad things that happen out there but we all know that is not reality. So why not start to introduce them to these moments through a little girl they have learned to love.

Great story about peer pressure

We loved Pinkalicious and Purplicious doesn't disappoint. The focus on the color black makes for some seriously cool pictures with terrific texturing. The story is about facing up to peer pressure. At the end Pinkalicious learns that although it may seem like no one likes you, tomorrow is another day and there are bound to be other people who share your taste. I see that the book got panned by a few folks but I thought it was great. It's one of my daughters' favorites, slightly preferred even to Pinkalicious.

My daughter and I love this book. We own both Pinkalicious and Purplicious and love them both. I don't understand all the negative reviews. As a parent I find it interesting to read and the pictures are fantastic. Most children's books that I read I start drifting off midway but this book maintains my interest and teaches a life story.
