A great followup to Marked!

In this follow-up to Marked, Zoey has begun to settle into her life at the House of Night, a vampyre finishing school for fledgling vampyres. She's taken over as leader and High Priestess in training of the Dark Daughters and Sons and is greatly admired by her friends and many other students in the school. Yet something is itching at the back of her mind; a strange darkness surrounds the school that somehow feels wrong. Zoey wonders if it has anything to do with the ghosts she's been seeing, or if it's all just her overactive imagination...

But when a couple of her old friends from Broken Heart go missing, and then later turn up dead, Zoey is inclined to start listening to her instincts. And they're telling her that perhaps the strange feelings and dreams she's been having might just be some sort of vision. For someone is definitely not what they appear, and betrayal can lie in the most unlikely of places.

I totally loved this book! It was a great follow-up to Marked. It even works well for readers who may have missed the first book as the author brings up any important points from the previous novel as necessary. In a few cases I found it kind of redundant, but probably because I'd read Marked right before Betrayed. But readers who went several months between reading the two books, or those who didn't read Marked at all, will greatly appreciate the reminders. Though as is usually the case with series, and especially here since I felt a real affinity for Zoey, I do think that reading both books will give you a deeper appreciation for the characters.

The 3rd book in the series, Chosen is not due out in March, and I can't wait to read it!

Best in House of Night Series--So Far...

Betrayed is 2nd in the House of Night Series. It's my favorite, so far. I'm looking forward to Chosen, coming out in March!! This book is worth your money & worth your time reading! I recommend this book to any 13+.

Others I recommend: Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer (5/5), Gemma Doyle Series by Libba Bray (4.5/5), Through a Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb (4/5) and The Blue Bloods Series by Melissa De La Cruz (3.5/5)

Betrayed

I loved this book. It is a very good sequal. It is worth reading. Loved It.......

Mixed Feelings....

I really had mixed feelings while reading this book. I still like the characters and most of the plot. But, the beginning of the book almost ruined it for me. When Neferet is basically insulting Christians and their beliefs, I almost had to stop reading and just put the book down. The choice of words used was a little harsh. That bothered me. If things like that don't bother you or you can ignore it like I did, then you will probably enjoy the book. I enjoyed this book a little more than "Marked" only because it seemed like much more was happening. You get to know some of the characters a lot more and I think the plot was much more interesting. The ending really makes you want to read the next book...which I am looking forward to.

Teen paranormal?

Parent's beware, this one is a bit more explicit than the first. Zoey becomes more daring with her love interest(s), especially since she has decided to juggle three boys (all boys of interest would be considered an adult since they are all 18 or older).

I really liked the first book in this series, but I was a bit disappointed with this one. I didn't feel as though the story went anywhere. With the exception of Aphrodite, I felt the characters did not grow whatsoever. All the reader learned was about Zoey's plans of how she would like to change the Dark Daughters and Sons. We already figured out there was something fishy with Neferet and the dead kids were not staying dead, so it was a major let down for me reading this book.

I still plan to read the next, since it has been my experience that second books often lack that oommph. I've got my fingers crossed for the next one.
