Better than Cosco

Everyone says that all car seats are the same...I think this one is worth the extra money. My second child is in this one and my first is in his original Cosco one. The Cosco is adequate but the Britax is 1. easier to install, 2. easier to put straps on, and 3. probably the most irritating thing about the Cosco is trying to adjust the straps and tighten them and Britax is a piece of cake. I have had so many less frustrations with the Britax and it even has little velcro spots to put the straps on when you are not using them so that when you put your child in, you are not mussing about trying to find the straps from underneath them. Great car seat!

Worth the price!

Ok, I had sticker shock. Yes, my baby is worth the money for his safety, but was this really worth almost $100 more than the others? Yep! We bought a Britax and an Evenflo. Both are pretty in our cars and I guess I am shallow but I care about that. But by far the best part is that my son is a happy little camper in this seat. He fusses way more in the evenflo and just looks so uncomfortable while he is sleeping in it. In his Britax he almost never complains and just looks so comfortable. Straps are easy to adjust and not a lot of twisting. This is one product that definitely lives up to all of the hype!

Great Carseat!

Ok, so it took some work convincing my husband to spend the $$ on this, but pointing out that it will last all the way to our son being 65lbs helped a lot. When it arrived we put our son in there and he was-- happy! My son is never happy in a car seat but he loved the fact that he could sit up straighter than in his infant seat. He can finally sit up like a big boy the way he wants to now that he is 5 months old and is a supported sitter. I like the fact that I can recline him if he falls asleep, which is usually the case in the car. I am sure he also appreciates the incredibly soft fabric - I know I would like to sit in a seat that soft. Considering we travel 4-6 hours to visit grandparents, his comfort and happiness is very important to us in a carseat. We pray that we will never have to use all the excellent safety features of this seat, but it is great to know that this is also top of the line in that respect.

great car seat

we love this car seat. i was afraid it would be too big, but fits in our prius and even in our beetle if the front seat is pushed forward. its easy to install although its heavy to carry.
we got it for $[...] plus free shipping at travelingtikes.com. I saw that in another review here and was so glad because its such a great deal. they only have certain fabrics at this price. we got the zebra and love it.

Good Car Seat, but Needs Metal Locking Clip for Stability...

I like this car seat, as does my 6 mos old son. He seems to be very comfortable riding in it. Initially, I thought I would have to exchange it, because it seemed that the Marathon was too big for my Honda Accord's middle seat, because I couldn't get it installed tightly enough. My husband and I took it by our local police department and the police officer re-installed the seat for us and she used the locking clip that I had from my old Snug Ride, to keep the Marathon from tilting to the side (which was an issue with the Snug Ride). I gave the Marathon 4 stars instead of 5, because of the locking clip issue. Most new cars now have lap/shoulder combo seat belts in all back seat positions, which makes it nearly impossible to install a rear-facing car seat in the middle position, without the seat tilting to the side where the seat belt locks. The metal locking clip is what keeps the seat stable and upright. Britax does not provide these locking clips for their car seats because their car seats come with their own "lock offs," which can and do pop open. The lock offs are plastic, and in my opinion, don't work nearly as well as the metal locking clip. These clips can be purchased separately, and they really help keep the car seat in place. Now, I feel that the seat is very safe, since it is rock solid; it doesn't move, slide, or tilt.
