One of the Best Movies Ever!

I have seen this movie at least 25 times and it never gets old. I saw it twice at the movie theatre and bought it on video as soon as it was released. I have since purchased it on DVD and enjoy the extras. It's great for all ages, plus the music is awesome. Funny fact: A soundtrack was never released until after it actually won an Academy Award for Best Original Score by Bill Conti. And even then, it was slapped together in a hurry, because people ran out to buy a soundtrack that didn't exist!

It's a wonderful story about a facinating subject that everyone in the family can enjoy. It is longer than average movies, but that's okay. Well worth the time spent. If you have never seen it, treat yourself and your family to a movie night, with The Right Stuff, popcorn and goodies. You'll be so glad you did!

I want to be a rocket man

If you are fascinated about the space program... this is a must see DVD. Ed Harris makes a better John Glenn than the real John Glenn and he is a living American hero.

Great movie. The photography, sound, story line and acting was outstanding.

Simply a great movie about a pivotal point in American history

I'm a sucker for this kind of movie. I'm fascinated by space exploration and especially the time when innovation and imagination married itself to gutsy, seat of the pants bravado to get America into the space race. The Right Stuff walks a cool line between rousing epic and quirky film.....it captures the spirit of Thomas Wolfe's book perfectly......it clearly has great affection for the Mercury 7 and for the other "steely eyed rocket men" from the golden age of test flying while also poking gentle fun at their somewhat myopic self-images. Whatever their flaws, these guys were heroes who put it all on the line for the sake of exploration. The movie gives you the full flavor of this most exciting time in American history.

The Right Stuff almost

As a fan of the space program and it's great history I really like this movie. This is an excellent dvd of the movie, and it contains much printed information on the movie, actors, etc,. but I was a bit disappointed that it didn't contain footage and interviews of the making of the film. I would still recommend it to Right Stuff fans however.
