Great for SERIOUS projects by SERIOUS people

This is NOT a professional CAD program but it does a great job of allowing people to try multiple designs and variations. I'm planning a MAJOR remodel/addition and this was an outstanding tool, especially since I'm on the west coast and the house is on the east coast. Between the supplied elements and being able to modify properties (sign of an advanced program), I was able to, for example, create a swim spa in a large sunroom (hint: I drew walls then modified their heights and widths).

The output BLEW AWAY my architect (literally, I dumped him) when I furnished him with MY designs and interior screenshots. The ability to have the roof easily drawn and modified was invaluable. Being able to reproduce his layouts by making modifications to mine (saving to new files is easy) then making MY changes and sending them back to him ON PAPER made communications simpler but not simple, since I was dealing with an opinionated architect. BTW, the architect was selected by serious due diligence and is the top guy in the area. Thankfully, this program was the equalizer.

Reading the other comments, it's seems that most people really weren't looking for a serious design tool. This is such a tool and it obviously does take time to learn to use (why is this a surprise?) It's actually more fun and lucrative than a computer game! It integrated seamlessly with the Landscape Design program. Both, BTW, are available for under $10 which, give the 2D and 3D capabilities was astounding to me as well as the professionals to whom I showed the resulting drawings (2D and 3D interior and exterior).

The payoff for me has been and will be the savings of TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS (no exaggeration). I have my own working drawings which I can now take to a builder for the creation of construction drawings. The architect confirmed my design by now I no longer need him, nor pay him any more. The only limitation that I really would have liked was the ability to save files in standard CAD formats - but that's a nit compared to everything that it DOES do.

So, having tried many house design programs (including yet another that I just bought that promised more and delivered less), I can honestly say, based on real experience with architects and contractors, that the drawings from this program give you a HUGE advantage at the start, because what's created is what YOU want and you can play and vary schemes as much as you want with only your time invested, not money wasted on an architect. YOU will be well prepared and knowledgeable when having to deal with construction professionals.

Great for Hobbies!

I am not a professional, nor do I profess to be one. I design as a hobby, and this is a great program! It was easy to learn to use and it has good graphics. I did use it to see what our house will look like with an addition, and it helped us to decide to go ahead with the building. It also helped us to estimate the cost of the project. I recommend it to anyone who just likes to dabble in designing.
