Wonderful!

Really loved this book-enjoy getting "inside" the heads of other creative people and knowing they share the same ups and downs we all do!
Rice did a wonderful job!

Great food for thought all the way through

I loved this book and it really made me think about why I create and what I get for my efforts beside the pure pleasure of making and working alone in my studio. I can't wait to get together with my best friend (also a working artist) to discuss the book. I feel like a student again, examining all the passions unleashed by the act of creating. I recommend this book to people who like to be challenged in their beliefs and made to examine an issue more deeply.

A Great Read....

Rice Freeman-Zachary's latest book is a wonderful glimpse into the creative world of artists. As an artist, I really enjoyed reading where and how other artists find their creative muse. I also like how the book is woven together with glimpses into each artist's mind and their particular journey. For those that are interested in the mystery of inspiration and the creative process this book is a must read.

I found out I really am creative after all....

I do not usually buy this type of book because I am more oriented towards the show me the techniques, I'll do it!
But, I bought this and could not put it down. Another characteristic I am not known to do. I absolutely love this inspirational book. Maybe it was what I needed. Also, it is out on the coffee table now, as a reminder to pick it up and read through it once or twice again. (another not like me). So, if you are having trouble finding your motivation or energy, get it! I wish I had written this book.

Inspiring Book for the Artist

I ordered this book as a fill in to get free shipping - how many times do we do that? To my surprise, I found it worthwhile and would definitely recommend it. I had expected it to be ... I don't know, not new or interesting I suppose - I think I'm feeling innundated with similar books. But I did start reading it and found myself enjoying it. Oddly enough, I returned the other book that inspired the order in the first place, but kept this one.

The one thing I found annoying was that it is written with the assumption that anyone reading it is creativity-challenged. I have had to ignore some pretty simplistic bits of advice on how to bring out my creativity to get what I want out of the book - which is not how to be creative and inspired in the first place (which is not my issue), but how to make that creativity a central part of my daily life. It's too easy to bog down in day to day stuff - important stuff, but time consuming stuff - and not get down and dirty and make art. That's what I need help doing, and I will say that there is inspiration for doing just that.
