Eye opening

This is an eye-opening book showing the world of people living on the fringde of the society. Going through rehab, meeting a guy at one of his meetings, taking his first drink out of sobriety, doing drugs, and hanging out with a prostitute, what more could a reader ask for? If you get a chance to read this book, do not pass it up. This book is absolutely amazing. I also recommend:

Powerful and Insightful

If you are a drinker, you'll quickly find yourself asking where your path might lead. In Burroughs case, it led down a path of denial that is portrayed in an honest, funny, and scary way in Dry. His style is crisp, funny, and descriptive while at the same time making you buzz with anticipation as you watch his experience unfold. For anybody who worries about heavy alcohol use, this has to be a must read.

Started reading and couldn't put the book down! This book and Running With Scissors are a must read.

Another winner

Burroughs can write. And his stories are interesting if not shocking or funny or sad. I love this guy's writing style and the way his distorted brain works. Very entertaining.

different than the others

This is a touching memoir that includes some witty prose but also plenty of heartbreaking accounts of Burroughs' journey to become sober. The last few chapters in particular are surprising, heartbreaking, and hopeful. I wouldn't call it funny, though there are a few good zingers throughout. If you're looking for a funny and uplifting Burroughs book, I'd try Magical Thinking.
