Great T.V. for the kitchen

I bought this LCD for the kitchen and installed it on a flexable wall mount. The size was perfect. The color is nice and it does everything I need it to do. The sound is a bit shallow but given the small size and position of the speakers, that is to be expected. Overall, I sure do love those Sammy's.

5 stars except for one thing

This is a wonderful flat screen TV. The one thing I was surprised about, was that, unlike my old-fashioned kitchen TV that it replaced, it doesn't give you info about the name of the show or movie that is on.

Could have been better

I've had this set for a week now to make sure there were no bugs before reviewing. I purchased it based on reviews and doing some comparing at local electronic stores. I have it on a cantilever wall mount in my kitchen underneath cabinets. I read through the manual to understand the picture modes and sound adjustments. The picture is excellent. No complaints there. The sound quality is terrible. I was hesitant to get this set based on other negative reviews of the sound. They were right. Very "tinny" sounding. It is the main reason I only gave this TV 3 stars. I've adjusted the equalizer as much as I can to get it to being bearable. Another issue is that the speakers don't face forward. They face down, and also vent out of the back. You can forget about low volume listening. I might return it as I'm so disappointed in the sound. If I had purchased a cheap set from Walmart I might expect this. But not from Samsung. As this is primarily for my wife, I'll probably keep it. It sounds fine to her. And ending on a general comment, I don't understand why the Zenith HD converter I bought for my old spare bedroom TV can give me a channel guide, but the Samsung TV can't.

Poor vertical viewing angle on close viewing.

I have a 17-inch Samsung HDTV several years old that's really great. When I wanted to get a newer one that was slightly larger and with HDMI, going with Samsung again was a no-brainer. Or so I thought.

This TV is probably fine for viewing at a normal distance, but I watch videos from just three feet away. At that distance, I found that the TV's vertical viewing angle was so limited that the top of the screen appeared darker than the bottom. For the same reason, brightness could not be adjusted for two people of different heights, or for the same person shifting position.

I guess this problem was the side effect of some kind of "improvement" in contrast or brilliance, or something, but I found the variation distracting enough that I'm returning the TV.

Oh, and the speakers were really a joke -- but I guess that's true on all TVs nowadays.
