It's Vonnegut
It's Vonnegut, therefore it is essentially gold. His throw-aways, which we can assume these stories were, are still better than the majority of what is being published today.
There is always something enlightening to the writings of Kurt Vonnegut. Whether it be his intention or not, that is debatable. I think he'd like that. If you've read anything from him before, and liked even a piece of it, you should read this.
Wisdom lives
Kurt's dead, but he keeps teaching us with humor and brevity (the best way).
Catch this one from page 6, voiced in the Introduction by son Mark:
"He didn't think the war in Iraq was going to happen, right up until it did. It broke his heart not because he gave a damn about Iraq but because he loved America and believed that the land and people of Lincoln and Twain would find a way to be right. He believed, like his immigrant forefathers, that America could be a beacon and a paradise."
Imagine that!

War and Peace - One More Time
"
Armageddon
in
Retrospect
" is a collection of essays on matters of war and peace. Kurt Vonnegut's son, Mark, begins this work with an introduction.
Mankind continues to pursue these questions but cannot seem to learn from the conclusions. Hopefully, this excellent addition to the collection will help us understand the complexitites of both subjects and the need to accelerate the pursuit of peace.
Author of Mr. NewHeart (New Heart): Heart Attack to Transplant and Beyond and "The Face of War" to be released in 2010.
Armageddon in Retrospect
Great stories from the late Kurt Vonnegut. The book gives more incite about many stories he included in his great works.

Lucky Find
I saw this at a bookstore and was surprised to see a "new" Vonnegut book. He is a fantastic writer and this book is no exception. The reason for four stars rather than five is that some of the stories are a little "rough" (you've been pitching that all night). I can see why some were not published previously. However, there are some in the book that are outstanding. If you like Vonnegut, you'll love this book. If you are a first time reader of him I would start with one of his other books first.
